“Device? Hey sister, that’s Mr. Meat-in-a-500-million-dollar-can to you.”
He’s a cyborg, not pure hardware….and proud of that.
If Nick isn’t on best behavior because of Dr. Lee, I expect some *serious* passive-aggressive response from Nick directed at Violet.
Wait, I’m confused. On 29 June 2010, we first learn about Violet Bee as the representative for TOTAL (Techno-Organic Trust for Advanced Learning—good acronym). Then, on 2 April 2011, we learn that she secretly works for Anasigma, and is trying to kill the Cypress (sorry, don’t know how to post hyperlinks here from my iPhone). Skin Horse isn’t meant to know this. So why does she let Nick see that she’s part of an Anasigma team?
This will soon become clear, but…SPOILERS…Anasigma wasn’t counting on SH being there any more than SH was expecting Anasigma. The TOTAL cover is probably not that useful anymore, anyway.
So there isn’t a grand conspiracy for whom everything’s gone to plan, but instead a series of mutual UCUs*. Excellent! I’ve always hated the grand-omniscient-council trope, since people screwing up tends to drive more than actual plans.
(*UCU: unforeseen cock-up, the number-one threat to all covert operations, as defined by the inestimable Frederick Forsyth.)
That’s why Eisenhower was fond of saying that plans are useless but planning is indispensable, and why in the Pentagon they were fond of saying the Russians play chess but we play Atari.
Violet Bee!
Well, I never!
Ain’t this ni-i-i-ice!
She calls me
Such a clever
Clever devi-i-i-ice!
“I’ve read
All your data,
Know about you-ou,” I say …
Plus, you’re
The only lady
In the U-u S A
Wilkin hasn’t …
Dr. Lee already mentioned that Nick cost $55 billion, yes Billion. She was afraid if the project failed, they’d take it out of her paycheck. http://skin-horse.com/2008/at-ease-captain/
Man, something about third panel Violet is giving me the heebie-jeebies. I have a feeling that’s the same way Unity looks at Nick’s brain-in-a-jar. I guess that’s what he gets for bringing up the fact that she’s the only humanoid who’s ever tried and failed to seduce Tip Wilkins.
Putting Violet Bee in a town of mad scientists is similar to putting a fox in the middle of a chicken coop and asking it to be civilized, with roughly similar results.
I agree with Wodwo, that is the kind of look that makes one start checking bus schedules out of town.
We’ll, there are a number of problems with those theories, so I’d say yes, almost entirely coincidence.
Although Sergio is, in fact, Sergio. And Unity does have Mell’s DNA, but not any body parts.
And of course, the only way Artie could be Li’l Mell’s teacher is by time travel, possibly in an attempt to make her not so murderous when she grows up. But of course, it won’t work.
You know, if you break the 4th wall, “smudged” totally works.
I’m vaguely worried about Violet now. Warning bells were a-ringing when she ‘recruited’ Sergio for A-Sig, but TOTAL?
I guess I should stop wondering just how many pies Anasigma has it’s fingers in; they’ve probably got their little hands in the entire bakery.

i think he already got her there.
I’ll have to remember that point.

The game is different now than it was then.
Dunh dunh DUNH
Maybe being a TOTAL rep who’s secretly a top Anasigma agent is all just her cover…. she’s probably with the Precambrians or summat.

I have a very strong feeling Nick shouldn’t have told Violet about carrying all of Skin Horse’s data around inside him…
Uh…the V-22’s flyaway cost in FY 12 is “only” $69.3 million. Total program cost is projected at about $87 million per aircraft.
Not to say that the Anasigma version wouldn’t cost much more, of course… 🙂
I imagine the whole “brain life support and brain-computer link up” arrangement probably accounts for a chunk of that… 🙂
Dr. Lee already mentioned that Nick cost $55 billion, yes Billion. She was afraid if the project failed, they’d take it out of her paycheck.

man… she must be near unique in that respect. they should form a club!

Please don’t ever let Nick lose his profanity censor. It just is much more accurate.

Upon recently re-reading lil’mel (and subsequently re-reading this) taylor and taylor remind me slightly of Bee and Dr. Lee.
and then, we also have sergio here.
and I’m pretty sure half of unity is from lil’ mel
and oh I think young tip look(ed/s) like homeschool joe.
coincidence? probably, but it’s all fun to consider
