It wasn’t Mad Science as such, but more that radiation is magic. She probably could have acquired an extra head just by flying near a damaged nuclear power station, but this is much better.
To be honest, yesterday I thought it was an art error, like a layering thing where one version wasn’t properly deleted. Depending on how various artists do their work, that sort of thing can be ridiculously common/easy.
from a Germanic personal name composed of the elements hrod ‘renown’ +gar, ger ‘spear’, ‘lance’, which was introduced into England by the Normans in the form Rog(i)er.
Well, we met Kay years ago, and she only had the one head. So unless she mutated another head (I know, I know, this is the Narboniverse we’re talking about here – anything can happen), it had to be a second dragon.
So why does Sweatheart say she thought there was only one “… of you” have we been under the impression Kay was the only dragon in existence? Wasn’t there a dragon way way way back in the non-human convention (back when we first met H.T.) …. or was that Kay in a temporal anomaly again…. or I’m I just deluded and wrong?
It does indeed look like a dragon, but it doesn’t look like Kay. The hair (well, whatever you call that on top of their heads) is different.
I guess Sweetheart thought Kay was one of a kind because she came to be a dragon by way of an accident with an irradiator, rather than by natural means (if there even is such a thing around here).
My first thought was “names like that are usually euphemisms”, followed by “why would a dragon want to be euphemistic” and then wondering if they’re more like reptiles or more like ducks. If they’re more lke reptiles it’s not a euphemism for anything. If they’re more like ducks, particularly if they have ducks’ charming mating habits… I wouldn’t really want to be Kay. Biology is awful sometimes.
I guess Kay knows which it is. Or has found out :/
Orgies are the polite and inoffensive way of putting it. Male ducks don’t really care about little matters like consent, should we say (mind you, neither do male frogs, male rams, or really anything that works via the horrifying thing known as “traumatic insemination”).
He seems nice.
Yeah. He *seems* nice.
Have we met the dragon before? I’m not sure, I mean I’ve forgotten characters in webcomics before.
No… Kay is introducing him to us for the first time.
Or did you mean yesterday. We met him yesterday.
And of course Kay was an accident of Mad Science.
It wasn’t Mad Science as such, but more that radiation is magic. She probably could have acquired an extra head just by flying near a damaged nuclear power station, but this is much better.
Yesterday I thought it was a two headed dragon. Today I that it was a new dragon (so two separate dragons). Now… I could be convinced either way.
They are slightly different colors, both today and yesterday. So, two dragons.
To be honest, yesterday I thought it was an art error, like a layering thing where one version wasn’t properly deleted. Depending on how various artists do their work, that sort of thing can be ridiculously common/easy.
Okay but… “Raar-ger”
At least he isn’t a vampire. I hear they acquire names as a hobby.
Ro-Gar does mean Spear of Renown, so subtle etymological joke hiding in plain sight?
Rogar does mean asking, is your question a subtle etymological joke itself?

I learn so many interesting facts in this forum! Thanks!
So it’s 2 dragons? I thought it was 1 dragon with 2 heads.

Hey, look…. it’s the two opossums! (Don’t know if that is or is not a dragon….)
It does indeed look like a dragon, but it doesn’t look like Kay. The hair (well, whatever you call that on top of their heads) is different.

Looks more like Mongor the iguana-man to me.
Mongor was my first thought as well, but when I went back and looked at him in Narbonic, there’s quite a difference.
And now I’ve got that song from Quest for Camelot stuck in my head.
I mean, Spear appears to be his name; all the rest are titles.
Or possibly Spear of Renown.
My first thought was “names like that are usually euphemisms”, followed by “why would a dragon want to be euphemistic” and then wondering if they’re more like reptiles or more like ducks. Ducks are the only animals that procreate exclusively through public orgies. No wonder their genus is a symbol for marital fidelity.
Orgies are the polite and inoffensive way of putting it. Male ducks don’t really care about little matters like consent, should we say (mind you, neither do male frogs, male rams, or really anything that works via the horrifying thing known as “traumatic insemination”).
A character in “Amphibia” was also First of His Name. I couldn’t figure out what they meant by it there, either.
Kind of like how Zaphod Beeblebrox was the first, his father was the second, and so on. A slight misfortune involving a time machine.
A websearch reveals it has something to do with “Game of Thrones.” Something I didn’t read or see (or plan to, actually).
That’s like me before my morning cup of coffee. You know, dragon.
Their ship name can be “Kroger.” But people will think it’s the grocery store.
Draconic life partners are they. Iconic romance all the way. Has multiple names, but Sweetheart proclaims, sardonic, he’s Roger today.
Roger is, in fact, my non-draconic life partner, and I’m thrilled to have him be part of the Skin Horse family.
I had a sneaking suspicion that might be the reason for the addition to the comic. Congrats to both you and Roger for being a part of the story.
Hooray for dragon love!
I love everything about this comic.
Two! Not more than two! Also only two dragons!
I don’t know if they’ve discussed children, yet.
