Actually, guns are NOT against superhero rules even if they are a bit Old School. Good luck in getting Shadow, the Avenger, the Spider or Vigilante (from DC Comics) to go without one. ^_^
There’s that as well. Pan did do a good job in spelling it out for him earlier that they merely found that dressing as superheroes gave them better PR.
Oh, she could pull the trigger. But without her thumb behind the gun to stop it, if there’s any kind of recoil, her trigger finger will get ripped off by the trigger guard.
With that coloration…is that a water pistol, or an acid pistol? Not much recoil there.
Though that could be a gambit/counter-gambit: “I see you’re not used to holding pistols. The recoil will…” “Acid pistol. No recoil.” “Good thing I’m wearing acid-proof clothes.” “But you just thought I was holding a real pistol, so you did not foresee this.” “No, I just hang out with Nera.” “But your face isn’t acid-proof.” “Want to bet?” “Your thoughts say you’re bluffing.” And so on.
“Optimal” is relative. True, being a hostage might be preferable to say, being killed, but one wouldn’t normally consider it “according to plan”. Although he does seem to be keeping Panoptica busy while the others go about retaking the ship. But even if this is a means to an end, that still doesn’t put them on the same side.
A robot doesn’t “choose” to obey its master. It does so because it is programmed to. If she is just blindly following orders (assuming she wasn’t the one feeding the orders to Cerebriac in the first place), then while she may not have “chosen” the opposite side, she has also not chosen Jonah’s side.
That doesn’t preclude him thinking that she is basically of good alignment and susceptible to a conversion attempt. The fact that she pulled a gun on him to get him to stop talking and looks irritated in the last couple of panels would suggest that he’s getting to her too when you consider how patient she’s been when he was waving Wrenchie 1.1 around.
She works for Anasigma. Odds are, it has more functions than just firing bullets, and the color marks it as slightly more dangerous than your standard Saturday Night Special.
OK I seem to have missed something.
Didn’t the gun go “klik” meaning it failed to fire?
Didn’t this mean that Pan just tried and failed to gun down an unarmed man in cold blood?
Is the reality blindness breaking the 4th wall?
Don’t know what the creators had in mind, but the click might have been Panoptica disengaging the safety. That is a fairly ominous sound to hear from a gun that’s pointed in your general direction.
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve seen in movies where someone pulls a gun, and you hear this audible “click” as if a hammer was being cocked, even though they didn’t actually do anything with the gun that would make any sound. All they did was point it at someone. I’ve even seen it with guns that don’t even have a hammer.
That looks most like a Cold Steel practice dummy, but might be a customized Smith & Wesson SD40VE New Sigma Series .40 Pistol or a GLOCK G19 Gen 4 9mm.
Lots of pistols colorize their polymer frames now…
You can have steel guns colorized as well. Similar to the process of blueing, only using one or more custom colours instead of blue oxide. I’ve seen camouflage using a standard olive drab base, a desert tan base, and even a hot pink base. My Mom recently got her target pistol done with a colour called “Sig Pink”.
Then she was right. She did have a gun.
Tch! Yeh, but it clashes with her outfit.
Odds are good that she keeps it in her desk. >_>
Towering Barbarian: The gun was probably in the same place as her grey belt, wherever that was.

I’m wondering if he’s more referring to her pulling the gun on him?
I think the problem here is that Jonah still thinks these guys are superHEROES.
There’s that as well. Pan did do a good job in spelling it out for him earlier that they merely found that dressing as superheroes gave them better PR.
Jonah wasn’t there for that exposition.

Ah! My bad then. *^_^*
I guess Jonah didn’t see this coming..
The way she’s holding it I have a doubt she can pull the trigger. BTW keep your booger hook off the bang switch till you are ready to fire!
Oh, she could pull the trigger. But without her thumb behind the gun to stop it, if there’s any kind of recoil, her trigger finger will get ripped off by the trigger guard.
on the one hand (no pun intended), that’d be an interesting plot twist. “You realize, if you shoot like that, you’ll destroy your finger.”
on the other, I don’t think Shaenon and Jeffrey would do something QUITE so gory.
“I don’t think Shaenon and Jeffrey would do something QUITE so gory.”
Are you familiar with this girl… her name is U.N.I.T.Y.?
Or perhaps the Skin Horse team’s entire mission to Paradise, Alaska?
Losing a finger because you don’t know how to hold a gun is mild in comparison.
there is a strange dissonance between “excessive carnage” and an “owie”

I can’t help feelng that what Kate is doing here is so much riskier than using her telepathy for mind control would be.
Who says she’s not?
I mean, the precog literally didn’t see this coming… does she actually have a gun, or does she just want you to think that she does?
Oh yeah that’s right, Jonah wasn’t there when she admitted that the whole superhero thing was just positive branding.
He was there when she admitted she takes her orders from an evil corporation. And that she’s a supervillain.
Maybe Jonah will finally realize that they’re not on the same side.
Maybe. Or maybe all is still proceeding according to his master plan and this is the future he decided was optimal. ^_^

No, I’m sure that Jonah never thought her on the same side as him. “You have to give up” is not the sort of thing you say to an ally. That said,…

I’m willing to bet when Pan pulls that trigger, the gun just makes those noises like a dollar store toy laser pistol makes.
Why is it bright green?
Why not? Maybe to distinguish it from her neon orange pistol? This one is probably a tiny rail-gun.

Usually it’s the sound of somebody cocking the hammer.

In this case, the “klik!” was the sound of a gun saying “look at me!”

See, should have hit her with the wrench while she was busy fiddling with her communicator.
