No, no, an opportunity to remove things from a human skull is just what she needs to get her confidence back. Cranial object extraction is totally in her wheelhouse.
True…….. but extraction of objects that were inserted in a moment of stupidity is far beneath her. It reminds me of the episode of M*A*S*H in which Major Winchester is called upon to remove a billiard ball from a soldier’s mouth.
If she didn’t already know from past experience that Jonah and Nera were indeed capable of breaking into a secure A-Sig facility, this is definitely not the way to convince her.
Jonah: “If we go in the front way, we get killed before we find anything out. If we go in the back way, we get killed after I see the map of the other bases…”
Virginia: “So you can’t do it?”
Jonah: “… which looks like this.”
Virginia: “Best infiltration team ever!”
Nera: “We never get to go anywhere interesting any more.”
“Small airfield in Kansas” means one to three small hangars and a single landing strip, or medium hangar and a single landing strip. At least from what I’ve seen driving around the state when I worked crew transport.
There’s a lot of small airfields in Kansas, so good hiding spot.
If I had to wadger, it’s probably along Hwy 36, Hwy 50, or Hwy 400. Though, the geographic center of the contiguous U.S. is just outside of Lebanon, KS. But, if it’s along I-35 by Beto Junction, I’ll laugh me ass off. I used to have to deal with that one when working crew transport.
That’s why I suggested Hwy 400. Whole lot of nothing out that way. Ditto for everywhere within 1 hour of Dodge City.
Though, if you really want the boonies, K-4 north of Eskeridge or K-99 west of Eskeridge. Pretty sure there’s an old missile silo just east of there along K-99 near Dragon Creek Rd.
Funny, with all the cybernetics attached to his brain, I would have guessed that Nick would have started shoving batteries up his nose. On a regular basis, even.
Unity… Jonah… Who’s next?
It’s all an elaborate plot to destroy Virginia’s confidence.

You think brains weren’t inserted in a moment of stupidity?
No, but I sometimes wonder if a moment of stupidity is because brains weren’t inserted.
At first, I read “butterflies stuck up my nose,” so there really would have been “more sapient” life at risk there.
“Crack” team or team “on crack?”
Crackpot
Having batteries up my nose is the path of greatest survival!
The weird thing is that… there IS a chance that having the batteries up his nose is actually part of the best timeline.

*Applause*
Jonah: “Sorry, sweetie. When we get the chance to go somewhere interesting and not get killed, I promise I’ll take you.”
Airfield? Isn’t that where Osprey helicopters can be found?

Panel 2 show 4 hangars and a control tower. If it’s got a control tower, it ain’t what I’d call small. But I don’t know Kansas.

I-35 and I-70 get A LOT of traffic, so that could go either way.
If I were running a covert shadow government operation, I would probably choose an area that doesn’t get a lot of traffic.
OR you do it near one that DOES get a lot of traffic because that’s JUST what they wouldn’t suspect!
If the people running Anasigma had any sense, the records wouldn’t be in Kansas any more.
So long as there not in Reading, KS (tornadoes), south central Kansas (wild fires), or east central Kansas (flooding), they’d be fine.

Always get the kids to ‘do it’, ie whatever nefariousness you are working on.
I hope he got the polarity right for the batteries
I didn’t know they had site-promoting T-shirts made up.
