It was my observation that we had somehow side-slipped along the Foot-face/ Abomination / Lumbering Unity Ant event horizon and were now firmly in the grasp of the normal Silliness gradient that permeates The Skin-Horse Uni/Multiverse.
Alas, your first post fails to match your second. There you felt I thought Pavane was more silly than foot-face.
The re-calibration is a standard move following a dramatic change in the local gradient to ensure that the change did not precess (or recess) the internal parts moving at near relativistic speeds.
My point (which I can see I did a poor job trying to convey) was that while Foot-Face may have been a little outside the normal range of weirdness, he was an anomaly. Unless there is a recurrence later, which would indicate it was not an anomaly, and as long as the anomaly wasn’t severely outside the normal range, then it shouldn’t necessitate a re-calibration.
The plan to infiltrate anasigma as prisoners went south, and pavane bailed them out of the simulation they got trapped in. I’m pretty sure that was when she mentioned being from Lovetron and she explained a little of what that meant. But I think I recall one earlier instance of her saying so but it was more mysterious then.
I’m holding on to the notion that Gavotte, though British, moved to the USA and had Pavane here, so she’s native-born if Gavotte did all the proper paperwork. All this bees and Lovetron stuff is another matter.
However, when either Gavotte or Pavane have talked about being aliens, is has nothing to do with their country of citizenship, and has everything to do with their species’ planet of origin.
Sort of like if an earthling human couple went to Mars and had a child. The baby would still be an earthling, regardless of having been born on another planet.
Good question. We are assuming, but all evidence is circumstantial at best. It would make for a nice final act twist if someone or -thing else is making a move on both sides.
ive been wanting to catch up with skin horse, but theres no archive or anything. could someone put a link to a page they know is from sometime close to or during may 2019? id really appreciate it
It’s a bit complex, but: there’s a chapters drop down on the right just beneath the comic. If you choose chapter there you get taken to the first comic in that chapter. Then, on the left under the comic there’s the date, author tag line, and a link to the whole chapter, laid out in archive format. May 2019 is during the chapter Green Noah: http://skin-horse.com/chapter/green-noah/
It’s not at all clear whether gendered pronouns apply to hive entities.
Also, now I’m wondering at the limits of the nano-goo Unity uses for blood. Could she take over Pavane?
Blood has independently evolved several times on Earth, and I wonder whether her nano-goo can take over creatures that don’t use the ‘mammalian / reptilian / avian’ standard for blood. What about insects and their open circulatory system (whole different structure) with hemolymph (not even remotely similar) instead of blood?
But then I kept wondering. What about horseshoe crabs and their weird mix of copper-based hemocyanin cells instead of hemoglobin and amebocytes for an immune system instead of white blood cells? What about fish of the genus Channichthyidae, that have antifreeze for plasma and don’t use red blood cells? etc.
Silliness Benchmark Re-Calibration in 5…..
Seriously? Pavane might be worse than Foot-Face, but she’s certainly not weirder.
It was my observation that we had somehow side-slipped along the Foot-face/ Abomination / Lumbering Unity Ant event horizon and were now firmly in the grasp of the normal Silliness gradient that permeates The Skin-Horse Uni/Multiverse.
Hence my wondering why the Silliness Benchmark needs to be re-calibrated, since this is just “normal”.
Incidentally, the correct term there is “Narboniverse”.
Very well then, Narboniverse.

Nah, you might as well get that out early, Sweetheart. What’s the harm at this point, really?
Even though it is going to be a complete buzz kill I agree there is no sense dancing around the issue …
Man, puns like that really sting.
Oh honey, you should have expected the puns.
Heyo! If we stick with it this thread might really take off.
{wonders if I have time to comb through bee anatomy}
as long as we are discussing bees http://www.scienceforthepeople.ca/episodes/dissecting-bumble-bee-health
Where was it established that Pavane was alien?
In Doctor Who, “The Stolen Earth”, it was established that all honeybees are alien.
As Fiona mentioned, Pavane told Sweetheart that she was from the planet Lovetron.
And in Virginia’s VR excursion, Gavotte revealed to her that all bees are alien.
I’m holding on to the notion that Gavotte, though British, moved to the USA and had Pavane here, so she’s native-born if Gavotte did all the proper paperwork. All this bees and Lovetron stuff is another matter.
I doubt anyone would question that notion.
However, when either Gavotte or Pavane have talked about being aliens, is has nothing to do with their country of citizenship, and has everything to do with their species’ planet of origin.

Awgiedawgie, I have to disagree about a human born on Mars. They would be a Martian even if their parents were Earthlings.
They may have Martian citizenship, but genetically, they would still be an earthling. Being born somewhere else doesn’t magically change that.
Is that clearly established? Did Pavane send the dreams?
Good question. We are assuming, but all evidence is circumstantial at best. It would make for a nice final act twist if someone or -thing else is making a move on both sides.
Make them supper
Alien bees
Bees for supper? I think I’ll pass. I’m not a murder wasp.
“Ya got bees for supper, first one thing then another.”

“It’s not at all clear whether gendered pronouns apply to hive entities.”
That is entirely up to the entity’s decision, just like it is with non-hive entities, like humans.
Bee wear the wings of destiny?
Don’t be silly, Sweetheart.
“Alien bees” is redundant when all bees are aliens.
