Why would they let her on anyway, square or not?
Surely they know if she is or isn’t from Lovetron. If she is, then she’s legit supposed to be there and going home. If she isn’t they wanted her on and faked a story, or they’re dumb and thought she was. (Or identical twin thing)
I’m still sticking with my theory that “Lovetron” is really somewhere on Earth – probably Area 51.
When Tony & Merc’s Groovitron exploded, they did indeed get teleported, but it wasn’t another planet – it was onto the flying saucer. They, and everyone else the saucer has picked up (Renard & #12, for example), have only been in the saucer, but have never actually seen Lovetron.
Tigerlily has been there, where she was being conditioned to believe that she was their princess, but she escaped by teleporting out. She used actual springs to build a teleporter that time, which is why she was surprised when it worked using coat hangers.
Ira discovered Gavotte back in the 1970s, and he conditioned her to believe that all bees are aliens from the planet Lovetron. Gavotte is, nevertheless, extremely intelligent, and she knows it, so she can’t even entertain the possibility that she has been manipulated all this time.
Pavane was conditioned to view all other NHS’s as inferior, and bees as the only “true” non-human life forms. She is in cahoots with Ira to eliminate all of the other NHS’s. Ira’s brute force tactics were just to get all the NHS’s together in one spot. Pavane has convinced them that their best chance of survival is to escape with her to “Lovetron”, where they will just quietly disappear.
Perhaps they knew she wasn’t from Lovetron, but thought she was delusional, and so went along with her story in the hopes she’d have a legitimizing effect.
It’s also worth considering the implications of Tigerlily talking about Lovetron ages before Pavane showed up, despite not being from there. Is it a fiction, and, if so, did she get the idea from bees? Did they get it from her? Or, if it’s real, does Tigerlilly know more than she’s letting on? Heck, are she and Gavotte in cahoots?
ISTR Tigerlily, pre-fake-princess, being very suspicious of Pavane’s Lovetron because you should never trust people who are telling you exactly what you want to hear. If it wasn’t for Gavotte confirming at least part of Pavane’s story, I’d be angling towards “Lovetron doesn’t exist and was made up to exactly fit Tigerlily’s delusions.”
As it is, I’m guessing that she is a princess of Lovetron, and she should be acting squarer in a Lovetronian environment, but they miscalculated just how Tigerlily she is.
In one paranoid scenario, Lovetron is real, but runs on spring-powered clockwork. Tigerlily was induced to believe that Lovetron was real after she broke through so that she could be brought along to provide Mad-level tech support for the spring-powered clockwork.
In another paranoid scenario, Lovetron is fake, generated by Ari Green, that Pavane was induced to believe in. But it’s a fake that is best served by spring-powered clockwork to drive the tech, so once again, Tigerlily is the best option to provide the Mad infrastructure of spring-powered clockwork saucer and environments for all the passengers.
Of course, the actual reason will probably be even weirder
“supposed” by whom? If it’s not Tigerlilly doing the supposing about what Tigerlilly’s going to do, then whoever is doing the supposing should be prepared to get funked up. ^_^
Wait, the opossum cultists said that she was crazy because of a funk deprived atmosphere, but that was a lie (which presumedly the cultists believed but Tigerlily bought none of but played along with.) So if all this funktron stuff is a lie then what’s really going on here?
She put on an act to be square. Or Pavane wouldn’t have let her there. She’s here for the crimes, and a vibe for good times, to bring down the ship in mid-air?
Maybe Tigerlily can mojo Tip aboard as another accomplice?
Be funky, do crimes.
I need that on a shirt
Shaenon, call your merch dept. The people have spoken
The third panel would be good on a shirt…
Good Sunday wallpaper, too.
I read that as good on a skirt. And yeah, that too.
Awwwww yeeeaaahhhh!!!!!
I love that, for tigerlily, crimes are not a means to an end, but the end in itself.
Ok, this is where I’m confused.

I’m voting for a big fake-out and this ship is flying straight into the sun.

I suppose.
Is Tigerlily wearing Paulson Bubble Goggles? 🙂
Just had to say, I LOVE the ‘sequin’ effect on Tigerlily’s outfit!
Seconded!
YES! Thirded!
Kiki would have keeled over in shiny overload.
HARD SAME
Fourth-ed!
I can’t wait for the reunion with Tip

I think there are lies, and there are partial truths. We can only wait and see. We have not only left Kansas… We’re not in Oz anymore.
Well, it’s nothing compared to what happened to Tip.
Things are going to get fun from here on in. And yes, I do mean “fun”, with extra emphasis, not “funky”. Tigerlily showing up had that covered.
