Yeah… Headless Unity wielding what is probably an experimental weapon… It’s probably a bad thing, but it looks so awesome it’s hard to be upset about it.
Some cursory Googling suggests that they haven’t varied wildly in size since their emergence in the Cretaceous. A nine inch long fossil is considered large.
Running on memory here…A large lobster is usually at least a century old. FWIW, that’s about 3x-ish bigger than the fossil mentioned. Chk back on a normal(ish) lobster in 800 years & who knows.
If you can keep your heads when one about you
Is losing hers and firing on you,
If you can get Tip’s gun when Niue doubts you
With no attention for her doubting, too.
If you can shoot it in a Skin-Horse minute
Just sixty seconds beyond your comfort zone,
Yours is the lobster and all the meat that’s in it,
And—as well—you’ll be The Man, you drone.
—from Kipling’s “If.” (I looked at the B-52’s “Rock Lobster,” but that already reads like a parody.)
Something like that has probably been pointed out before, in which case, apologies to whoever did it first.
They’re also saving the world from a rampaging sea monster just like AG-I, but I’m not sure the specific roles quite line up. Regardless, they’re a well oiled machine of heroism, each member a critical irreplaceable part in the overall operation.
I was just about to comment on those two. Their dinner is probably being enhanced by the “floor-show” that’s being put on in the commissary. They’re probably taking video on their phones to post later (which brings up whole new levels of how the Crown-induced reality-blindness works, but that’s an argument for another post.)
Now I wonder how Headless Unity managed to find her way to the lobster. [1] What sort of senses beyond the human does the nanogoop give her? Can she see with her skin? (Her hands have also been shown to be able to find their way around on their own).
[1] The way to and contents of the armory, she’s probably memorized.
An intriguing question. Well, Virginia pointed out that the nanogoop is UNITY – full stop. The body is just a vehicle. Which means she is actually Niue’s “new best gestalt friend”. Blind people find their way around just fine.
She’s also missing ears and a nose, unless she has extras on under her clothes. And I suppose she could be using the ray gun as a poking stick (“cane” probably brings up the wrong sort of images for the use she is likely to make of it)
Maybe she simply “senses” her surroundings. Sort of like flying a plane by instruments when you can’t see what’s outside. And with just as great a danger of catastrophic damage if something goes wrong.
I’m sure Tip has taken Alice with him on all his dates, if you carry you carry. But what is surprising is that he would lend Alice to Sweetheart for her date. I guess she doesn’t have one of her own, due to the whole ‘not having thumbs’ thing, and he’s willing to help her out. If the drone works out for her though, she should really get her own, she can’t rely on Tip all the time.
It is surprising that Tip would let Sweetheart take Alice. Anyone who carries knows that you never loan someone your gun. If anything happens involving that gun, it comes back on you.
I cannot tell if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

“If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs…”
If you can trust your zombie when all men doubt her…
In a universe like this it would the sanity of those who didn’t pack heat that I would question. ^_^
Is it coincidence or comedic planning that the words in the filename are “of my head”?
Wait until Niue finds out that Unity likes hats even more than Tip does.
To be fair to Niue, Unity can’t exactly wear hats right now.
Frankly, I’m surprised Unity didn’t stick her camo pith helmet (the one she got when they were at Area 51) on top of her neck.
Is that a devolution gun?
Maybe a pro-evolution gun? Where lobsters bigger or smaller in the past?

One might said that, detached from her ‘super’ ego, UNITY’s id has brooked no quarter in hastening to her Sweetheart’s side…
If, you know, UNITY was anything but id to begin with.
Can Tip mojo-summon Alice while he’s in the drone?
He just got through saying the gun is at the table.
No, that was Sweetheart talking, according to panel 1.
I meant “he” as in “the drone”.

That picture of Mell and Zeta hugging Foot is one of my all-time favourite images from Narbonic!
How’s Niue going to deal with Unity’s head?
finally, a new best friend who can NEVER EVER WEAR A HAT!
You underestimate Unity’s versatility. There’s plenty of neck sticking up there to hold a hat. And Unity does love her hats.

Now you’re making me hungry!
They’re the A Team!
Sweetheart is leader and master of disguise Hannibal
Tip is ladies’ man Face
UNITY is fisticuffs master B.A. Baracus
And of course Nick is “Howling Mad” Murdoch the chopper pilot.
Something like that has probably been pointed out before, in which case, apologies to whoever did it first.

The lobster said “rar”. I forgive him everything…
So just to make sure I’m understanding correctly, Niue knows there’s more than one of them in there by now? And they know she knows?
Yes. And yes. That’s why Niue called the drone “best gestalt friend” in Saturday’s strip.
And then those presumably reality-blind diners the lobster is approaching…

Seems like what that lobster really needs is some Gentle Persuasion.
