The sentient corporation is very nice! It’s just made out of cruel, uncaring machines that do anything in their power to maintain its existence. You know, people.
Well I mean, he’s a helicopter. They put stuff in him, and he flies places with it. Passengers, cargo, whatever they need. Brokering a deal with another company? Fly them in on your private helicopter. Whatever.
So was this really an authorized “vacation” – in which case Whimsy has no kicks coming, or was it Nick going AWOL in order to make his drop – in which case the peeps at Whimsy have every right in the world to be annoyed? o_O
Please consider that deleted… everyone has something they don’t like; anime is one of my pet peeves. To have obvious skill and make everyone look three years old anyway… some Japanese style thing I just don’t get. Sorry.
You need to watch the good anime, and try drawing some yourself. Sure, there is shitty over-simplified anime, but watch Ghost in the Shell and tell me if everyone looks three years old and the art is trivial to do.
Economy of line, aka “drawing as little detail as possible and still being recognisable and looking exactly like I want it to” is actually really bloody hard. Drawing in specific, recognisable styles without looking a bit “off” isn’t easy, either.
These little bots are kind of scary on the inside.
Can I watch when you light up the injected fuel, Baron Mistycorn?
And the sentient corporation seemed so *nice*, too…

I’m nice guy. But my white blood cells are real voracious sobs.
It’s the Whimsy Corporation version of Catbert.
Since you put it that way…eugh…
I wonder just what it is Nick *does* at Whimsey DreamLabs…

Maybe Nick can chill with the Whimsy villains. They’ll be less diabetes-inducing. Of course, you’ve gotta put up with the ebil, but whatevs.
It might be like the Hello Cthulhu web comic- he’s trapped in a universe with no evil he can use to escape it…

Is it just me, or does the relentless cheeriness make the Cat in the Hardhat more menacing?
The anime (Japanese for “I don’t draw so well”) features Shaenon has so carefully captured, does it for me… Does it hurt, drawing down to that level?
Careful, you’re casting some heavy shade on Shaenon’s day job
