One wonders if a cyborg would have the same problem there that humans do. After all, he’s producing sound through speakers, not through an echo chamber that ties directly into his audio receptors.
Do we even know if his human voice sounds the same as his helicopter voice? Since he’s just a brain in a jar controlling a helicopter, the speakers might be replicating his mental image of what his voice sounds like, instead of replicating his actual voice.
I guess it depends on how badly/well the cyborg was designed. If it’s microphones were in such a position as to have the received audio be effected by the shape of the head and/or it’s material, it’s entirely possible.
I don’t understand what would be scary about that.
Besides, it can’t be a backup, or the new instance of Nick would be disoriented. If it isn’t a future version of Nick that got reset to this savepoint, it is a deep-copy of the live instance of Nick.
Having multiple instances of yourself can be an advantage.
This is going to wind up being an infinite number of Nicks crashing the simulation, just like he did with the birds. And Lovelace and the Baron will develop a phobia of crowds and touching after being squished by all of them.
So, is the second Nick a copy of himself that the first Nick accidentally restored from the most recent saved, or is the second Nick a future version that just reset game to a savestate of this moment and everyone else is a copy?
Ah, c’mon! If you like yourself then the more the merrier! ^_^
Besides if Nicks can’t think of a good use or two for multiple selves then they aren’t the gamer I had thought them. ^_~
Nick hates everybody, including himself. Just ask him.
Existential horror here we come!
ESPECIALLY if you start going, “OMG, I sound like THAT?!”

So is the game going to combine Nick with himself now?
Or a rat? Or a dinosaur? Or LOVELACE!?! That was a bad idea; forget I typed that.
Lovelace speaks from experience, I see.
What surprises me is the implied time travel.
No time travel, restored brain from backup. Much scarier.

I can’t believe no-one replied to that using “In the Nick of time”, or a pun thereof.
Looks like nobody had….. the tiiiiiiiime. 🙂
Hee. Neigh homo.
Is he the man in the box? Or the prestige?

Yes.
A Nick for everyone!
Did he just steal a backup? If so, Nick nicked a Nick.
Maybe it’s Aimee. We don’t know what she looks like.
Why would Shaenon waste an opportunity to draw Nick as a female?
To confuse us?
I may be a bad person, but my first thought was definitely “NOW KISS!”
xkcd: 105, 267.
xkcd: 105, 267..
Second Nick!
