Well, your alternative is Tip so we’ll go with “Yes” on that one.

The funny thing is Nick is probably worse if you count his porn folder (or more accurately, hard drive).

I think it was looking for Sweetheart.

I think Sweetheart is a little too cynical and Nick would just draw comparisons to Navi the whole time.

Personally, I’m thinking ‘Will it blend?’, but I think that about pretty much anything new.

Sweetheart enjoys visiting Cleaveland and organizing old files.

      Not exactly childlike wonderment.

I take it the Most Delightful Place on Earth is the female equivalent of The Light of Culture and Reason. Makes sense to me.

I had forgotten about that. Had any-one else had referred to it as such, I’d have assumed they were being sarcastic.

But then Gustave Coubert called his painting The Origin of the World.

Depending on how dedicated she is to maintenance, sometimes it’s the Garden of Earthly Delights.

        *Garden of Earthy Delights.

Meanwhile, Sweetheart refuses to admit that she mentally calls her fun bits “the Heat Factory”, and Nick calls his favourite body part “my Sidewinder [not a euphemism]”.

That’s… a surprisingly mature joke for this comic. o_O

      Yes it is…

But oddly in an innocent and childlike way.

tune: “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” Edward Pola & George Wyle, 1963, recorded by Andy Williams

It’s the Most Delightful Place on this Earth
    It is fun always waiting,
Worth anticipating. It fills me with mirth
It’s the Most Delight Place on this Earth

It’s the hap-happiest place in my pants
It’s been animal, human (both she and he, too), and
    Makes me wanna dance
It’s the hap-happiest place in my pants

    Where is Collodi’s daughter?
    You say that I oughter
Look where there’s a fount of delight
    But I’m searching my jammies
    I don’t understand—she’s
Not in my happy place tonight

It’s the Most Delightful Place on this Earth
    Light of Culture and Reason
    Got nothing on these’ uns
    Can his bits give birth?
    It’s the Most Delightful Place
Puts a big smile on my face
It’s the Most Delightful Place on this Earth!

… so childbirth counts as delightful, now? I think most (biological) mothers would disagree on that.

Heh, I was thinking of the exact same Outland strip as soon as I saw this. Shaenon has homaged his work before and I tip my hat her way in delight every time I see it.

    The Questions… (moan) The Quesstionssss…

Does UNITY know this from personal experience or is it something she picked up from someone she ate?

Has UNITY’s “Delightful Place” ever had visitors? If so, were they visiting UNITY or does was Dr Lee using second hand parts? (Can’t shake the image of Joliet Jake Blues checking out of the joint. Frank Oz saying, “One ‘soiled’.”)

Delight can be solo. And solo delightful.

Hence the lack of incongruence when considering innocence.

That phrase “most delightful place on earth” gives me a twee creepy vibe. Like some sort of sick demented circus environment.

THEN AGAIN – it could be another (that place which shall not be named) reference – between Orlando and California sites. The California site has been called “the happiest place on earth”. Still creepy.

It’s almost certainly a reference to Disneyland, the “happiest place on Earth”, considering that WhimsyCorp is a paper-thin expy of Disney.

You know, considering that Dr. Collodi is also responsible for GODOT, it’s entirely possible that this could be both a drug-fueled hallucination AND a genuine message from the Spirit of Whimsy. Maybe it’s another one of those mind-effecting thingies that only affects people that are “innocent”, “childlike”, or in a similar frame of mind caused by being “on shrooms”

Dr. Collodi is not responsible for GODOT. GODOT was a DoD project.

    … Okay, thank you comments.

I completely missed that joke, and instead read it as “Even Unity‘s afraid to go to this ‘Most Delightful Place on Earth’ place, and it was expecting someone more gullible”.

Listen Spirit of Whimsy, your options are pretty limited in that regard.

But also, knowing even a little bit about real children, this isn’t far off the mark for hos they behave.
