If he doesn’t get it through his head now, he never will. How much you guys wanna bet that the snake talks?

The snake might talk, but not with his mouth full. That would be rude, also anatomically unlikely.

The snake from “Mark Trail” is making a guest appearance? Cool!

Nearly 150 newspapers and digital outlets, according to Wiki. The new artist has definitely shaken things up.

I dunno, his father might’ve been Alfa Hotel.

Go snake, go! We have too many talking rodents around here anyway.

Don’t you just hate it when you are in the middle of a dramatic event, and no-one seems to be paying attention?

The snake seems happy about it though.

I know, right? Look at that adorably gleeful smile in the fourth panel!

I don’t expect the snake to be satisfied with just one, so they may be reunited shortly… (Unless the snake is an ordinary snake that recognizes what is and is not edible.)

It’s a snake inexplicably in a sewer, it’s already not ordinary.

Inexplicably? Perfectly explicable. All pets seem to get flushed down sewers and then grown to unexpectedly large sizes, or at least unexpectedly large according to rat scale.

Didn’t you read tabloid covers while in supermarket checkout lines, at least pre-plague?

…it may be a drain snake.

Usually those get pulled back up, not flushed all the way down.

      Does reality blindness affect snakes?

It obviously affects rats, so why not snakes?

I’m glad I was wrong about Valiant being parted from his hat…

Remains to be seen. Hats and rats probably pass though snakes at different rates. [citation needed]

I think it’s interesting that Valiant hasn’t given the drone a gender in his speech. “That attractive citizen, my fair flower, chivalry that I stay with you…”
Hmm… The drone has no fur or clothes, so isn’t expressing much of a personal style…
I’m calling that he’s reading the drone as someone who is feminine-leaning non-binary and who probably prefers ‘they/them’ pronouns.
