There’s a difference between sounding dumb and *being* dumb! And in this case, since Shelby was silent when he shouldn’t have been, I am using the word in the literal sense as well as in the figurative sense. 😛
I’ve sort of lost track of why AG-I needs help in the immediate sense. Is the sea monster not responding to punching? Is the sea monster threatening someone? They were punching the sea monster, then paused to hold a (unhurried, calm) interview with Jonah, and now they’re having a leisurely conversation about potential help from Skin Horse. What is the actual issue here?
You seem to be under the impression that all of those different events happened in order, rather than having some overlap. And even if they didn’t overlap, everything we’ve seen could have taken place over only a few minutes. It takes a lot longer to tell a story than it does to experience it.
The hit from Cinder seems to have put a damper on the leviathan’s attack, but I’d suspect that it is indeed still threatening the ship and everyone on it.
Indeed. And why is she considering help from files back at the office rather than from, say, Unity? I wonder if a comic wasn’t posted out of order; it’s happened before.
I don’t think they are asking for help in the *immediate* sense – remember, they’re here to hunt the sea monster. So they’ve probably driven it back temporarily and are asking Skin Horse for help with the long-term solution (other than keep waiting for it to attack ships and keep punching it when it does).
So the US Government is covering up the paranormal not to keep the public in the dark, but just so they can get out of writing dumb-sounding reports? Suddenly all those conspiracy theories got a lot more plausible…
Not to mention they have three different _working_ perpetual motion / free energy prototypes but every time the guy responsible imagines walking into the USPTO and trying to file the patents he just goes “oh f### it, not today…” again.
On the one hand, nobody wants to look stupid, and it’s very hard to remain in charge when everyone is laughing at you. On the other hand, the information might be necessary at times. There are arguments both for and against.
Started Act III, anyway. I bet there are still *years* of plot to go through before Unity launches Sweetheart into H.T.’s maw to shut him up at some critical point and saving *this* universe.
If only we had the names from before the Roman Emperors started claiming the summer month for their own, he coulda been promoted to Sextember. Boom chicka wow wow.
Not to split hairs, but the Roman Emperors did not “claim the summer months for their own.” It was the Roman Senate who changed the names of July and August from Quintilis and Sextilis, respectively, in honor of Julius Caesar (Julius Caesar was never Emperor), and Caesar Augustus (whose name was actually Octavian — Augustus was a title bestowed upon him by the Senate when he became the first Roman Emperor). July was chosen because it was the month of Julius Caesar’s birth, and it was renamed after he was assassinated in 44BC. August was chosen because it was the month of many of Augustus’ military conquests. Neither had anything to do with the fact that the months were in the summer.
My point was that the Senate did not choose those months because they were in the summer. They chose them because of their significance to Julius and Augustus. If Julius had been born in the ninth month (which is now our eleventh month), then it would have been November that was renamed as July, and Quintilis would now be something along the lines of “Quintember”.
I read through it, and while it indeed sounds quite dumb…
…you need to have lived it for it to be awesome XD

Lest we forget, this latest affair started because the world was suddenly struck with reality blindness.

I keep feeling like we might be approaching the endgame…

Nah. Sweetheart and Unity are finally starting to acknowledge their feelings. I don’t foresee Unity using Sweetheart for a Fastball Special.
Now, Unity eating H.T. to shut him up… that I can picture.
So September didn’t report it. Will he be reduced one grade to August, or busted all the way back to January?
It’s still the Gubment. He’ll be promoted instead.
“Promoted” to January. I imagine.

Sweetdaddy coolin’ that crib already, dig?

Well, other than the fact that births and military campaigns have traditionally been more common in the summer.

“It makes one feel,” said the philosopher slowly, “such a damned fool.”
“I know,” assented the other, “but one often has to choose between feeling a damned fool and being one.”
