So could cooler cats than I tell me if Captain Beyond’s jive talk in the third panel actually makes sense? I mean, I can tell what he means (“Don’t mess this up or you’re in trouble”), I just have no idea if that’s what he’s actually saying. Finna? Sporting life? Huh?
My best guess, standing on the shoulders of Gemmas:
crummy — poor-quality
fixing to — preparing for, doing what you need to get
make out of — duck out of
sporting — wearing
“Don’t you flake out on me, because that’s a really good way to end up dead.”
“Sporting” can be general slang for “actively attempting”, ie “sporting game” -> “attempting to play well”, “sporting shot” -> “making a good attempt at a shot” etc
In this case, “finna” is slang for “fixing to”… which is, in itself, a form of slang. So it’s kind of like meta-slang… but only if you get what it means.
If Sweetheart realizes that one of her subordinates is toking, even if it’s not officially on the job, I’m pretty sure she’ll consider seppuku her only recourse. I suppose it could just be Chris, but Marcie even being in the area will probably have Sweetheart trying to turn herself in.
This is from memory, so no promises on accuracy. If you’re asking how long until you aren’t high, it can take several hours depending on dose and tolerance. Not a useful answer, I know.
If you are asking how long until Chris can pass a drug screening…chemicals from marijuana that get tested for are fat soluable. So depending on your body fat percentage; how much you’ve taken; and your metabolism/physical activity levels, you can test positive for it long after you stop being high. As for what is “long after,” it could be a couple of weeks. Which could lead to a problem with Sweetheart.
The games are about to begin, and the first players are psyching themselves up. So to speak.
Annex One did not take to being abandoned very well. It looks downright haunted. It needs Shelby’s touch to give it that homey, government-office feeling.
Today, for the first and last time in my life, I will say “first” on an internet page.

And now, for something relevant: well, as long as he doesn’t marry Juana. This was your bad pun of the day. Good night.
The last time I came this early, it was just as disappointing.

Ba ha
I’ve had one first. I was so proud . . .
To paraphrase Homer Simpson: “Here’s to pot: the cause of, and solution to, all of life’s problems.” …
Yes, technically tetrahydrocannabinol *is* an alcohol, as is cannabiniol. S-s-smokin’.
Let’s drink to thirst.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.
I GET THAT REFERENCE!

Not really. But Tigerlily’s take on “Funky” seems to include making up your own slang on the fly, so he’s golden.
‘Finna’ is definitely a thing (fixing to), but the rest is alien to me.

Yeah, a little marijuana does help now and then. Better hope she left some snacks in the vending machines, though.
At least they won’t need to worry about them going bad…
It often does.
The tail of the ‘Like Tip said’ balloon points to Captain Beyond, which confused me for a while.
well, i was not expecting that, but then again, it’s Tip that’s directing them
Smoke weed everyday.

They aren’t her subordinates yet: getting the irradiation machine is a prerequisite to being hired.
Hope it’s not “getting the irradiation machine” plus “pass a standard drug test”.
How long does it take marijuana to get out of your system?

28th!
Wait… is that a thing?
