Saying “cavolo” in Italian is similar to saying something like “shoot” or “fudge” in English. Yes, it literally translates as “cabbage”, but it’s merely a nicer way of saying the far more offensive “cazzo”, which translates as either “sh!t” or “dick”, depending on context.
It’s pretty much a given that Anasigma, and therefore Mr. Green, is responsible for the reality blindness. They (via The Institute) were experimenting with The Cure, and then there’s this — http://skin-horse.com/comic/delicately/
But I don’t see why that would imply that he is Tremontino.
My pet theory is that Tip’s mojo was drained away to power the reality blindness and Tremontino designed that “special suit” Tip donned just before the onset…
So Tremontino must be at least consulting for Mr. Green.
It’s unknown how long it had been since Tip had last visited Tremontino before he took Unity to get “dolled up” (I’m assuming he couldn’t afford to fly up there very often, and it’s at least a 9 hour drive from DC to Vermont), but Tip already knew about the suit — and that Tremontino had made it especially to tempt him away from women’s fashion — which indicates that the suit had been there at least on his previous visit.
And why would they even need Tip’s mojo to power the blindness? It’s a computer program, so all they’d need is to release it via the internet or cell phone carriers.
The two forms (that we know of) of blindness A-Sig were working on were The Cure, which acts directly on the DNA, so it affects even those who are already Mad (which we saw demonstrated at The Institute); and the Crown, the software from Whimsy, which acts based on each person’s individual preconceptions. While it is true that we don’t have confirmation yet, we do know there are humans who have not been affected, so it is reasonable to assume they are using the Crown. And yes, I did say that I assume — take it for what it’s worth. But unless I see some more convincing evidence to the contrary, I am fairly certain about my assumption.
As for Tip’s mojo, I think it’s more sartorial than psychological. It seems to have been fueled by his self-confidence, which was in turn generated by his attire (http://skin-horse.com/comic/unnerved-him/). He sacrificed his ladies’ clothing to get that suit, but he still looked amazing, so still had his confidence. When the blindness hit, and consequently the legal action failed in Vermont, he realized that he had given up his entire wardrobe for nothing, and he saw himself as a failure. His confidence had fallen below zero.
The problem I have with that theory is delivery. The Paper Crown required its subjects to have their brains hooked into a full-immersion VR environment to work on them, and the effects immediately stopped when they left. How exactly is this supposed to be causing reality blindness around the world? Not to mention that the effects weren’t quite so extreme as the reality blindness either. It only made Nick less sweary and Mistycorn a bit more heroic.
I doubt the Crystal Entities had anything to do with this, but I wonder if the Liquid Entity is hiding a wrench somewhere. Assuming it can use wrenches in the first place.
I fear an unintentional riff on SPECTRE where a certain Mr. Green (a genetically altered Lion named Leo, looking confident all of a sudden) appears in front of photos of Tremontino, the swamp, Whimsey, Gavotte. HT.
“It was all me, Tip. It’s always been me. The author of all your pain.”
Tip’s expression in the second panel is *great*. Just great.
I looked up ‘cavolo’.
Apparently it is an insult that translates to ‘cabbage’…? Italians are weird.
Probably like saying “cabbage head” or “boche”.

It’s possible Mr. Green is responsible for the reality blindness: http://skin-horse.com/comic/todays-comic-1021/ – which would imply he is AKA Tremontino!
Are we about to witness “The Twelve Labors of Tip”?
So this is a reprise of “The Borrowers” chapter?

I think you may be stretching.

Good points. Conceded!
I’m open to alternatives. Do you think Tip’s loss of mojo could be – – psychological? 🙂
Wait, what? I must have missed something. How do we know the blindness is a computer program? Teach me, Senpai!

I’m still holding out for Tremontino being an older Tip, possibly from a dark future.
Why do I hope this arc ends with the “Wrinkle in Time” dress stealing?
I was wondering what had become of our slippery friend…
So… did the Crystal Entities have something to do with this? Are we going to get a global warming metaphor here? Cuz I’m totally up for that.
I doubt the Crystal Entities had anything to do with this, but I wonder if the Liquid Entity is hiding a wrench somewhere. Assuming it can use wrenches in the first place.
Or is the Liquid entity the crystal entity in solution?
Perhaps the silverfish can mount a production of Britten’s “Noye’s Floode”…
All the upvotes.
So the cybernetic fish are not waterproof?
Are you sure that’s water?
So _what_ has the basement been flooded with? A liquid Funk spill?
Well, the accent makes me think it’s Scottish. Maybe it’s Scotch.

I was wondering about him, whether flooding would strengthen him or disperse him.
I guess the survivability of the robot fish is outweighed by their ability to be short circuited
