Zap him again, Nick. Can someone please stuff Baron in a garbage disposal already? I can’t remember the last time he contributed something useful to…well, anything. I’ve got $20 that says he gets the gang caught during this storyline by doing something catastrophically stupid and selfish.
For example, if Baron got sent to Hell, and had to follow in the footsteps of Narbonic’s most metal side character, Seth, to carve his way to freedom… or perhaps to seizing the throne.
Isn’t he helping Aimee manage a safe space for AIs? He needs better safety protocols for that, but he is making peoples’ lives better. Maybe. Presumably Aimee would sack him if there were a better choice, so at least her life is better.
Helping? Safe? Not long ago, he indiscriminately plugged a strange USB device into the server without a second thought. Aimee’s response was asking why she bothered keeping him around. Shortly thereafter, he got himself thrown into a dungeon, and lost possession of the server altogether. As for Aimee having a better choice, since she lacks a physical presence, she can’t really look for a better choice.
Baron M. requires a cable to interface with Aimee’s World.
It’s virtually certain Nick could do so at will wirelessly.
Aimee was able to take over Baron’s body at need (an excellent reason to keep him around, BTW).
Speculation: Would it be possible for Aimee to “possess” Nick’s meat peripheral? And if so, would she retain the Crown’s mind control abilities? And would Nick – with his talent of bilocation – still be able to function simultaneously in his real body?
You’re leading up to potential mass brainwashing to counter the previous mass brainwashing that A-Sig did, aren’t you? An interesting twist, but perhaps not feasible.
Nick’s body isn’t wired to receive inputs, only to send them.
And even if it were, sending electrical signals designed to be read by a digital processor into the human nervous system is NOT going to produce coherent outputs. Unfamiliar inputs produce garbage outputs.

Make that two.
If Baron stay tag along with team and somehow -not- compromise the mission in any way, I will be very surprised.
Hopefully Shaenon have a big humble pie prepared for Baron.
Being served up humble pie is usually an opportunity for personal growth. Do you actually believe that Baron is capable of such?
Haven’t you heard? When SH ends, the Baron is getting his own spinoff comic.
😉
There are ways that could work.

The Baron is the protector of the server, maybe Dr Lee can incorporate the server into his systems so he becomes the server himself.
Somehow, that sounds like a really bad idea.
contributed something useful ? He’s Essential! You can’t have a complete, well rounded cast of characters without a [redacted vulgar euphemism].
Counter prediction: Baron Mistycorn will sacrifice himself to save Aimee, Nick, Dr. Lee or all three.
Ask Baron M. if he needs any help coming up with ways Nick sucks.
Being Nick’s doppelganger, Aimee pretty much already knows all the ways he sucks.

So since Aimee is Nick, can Nick repossess himself?

If Nick’s body isn’t wired to receive input, then how could he process any data sent back to his brain from the Osprey?
You can’t just make assumptions about something created by Mad science.
The human nervous system is a digital processor. It’s all pulse-width modulated signals.
This feels like it’s failing the Bechdel Test, except instead of “men” it’s “Nick”.
Fitting, I suppose, since the “Bechdel Test” also started life as an absurdist humor joke in a comic strip…
Is the closest Baron analogue in the Oz universe a flying monkey? Mistycorn seems like he’s in the cast just to destroy things.
Naw, he’s just there to show how different someone playing a Disney, er, Whimsey character is from the part they play.
Baron’s mug in panel 1 suggests the conversation with Aimee didn’t go the way he wanted…
he’s literally absent minded: his mind is in the AI realm. That’s his default expression
He reminds me of Edge, in the comic Free Fall. Obnoxious, but sometimes handy…
