Actually, “Help! I’m in a rocket car” might not be a bad thing to send even with the reality filters in place since kidnappings are still know to take place even in the most mundane of settings… @_@
The beautiful/scary thing is that, with infinite resets, he could just work his way back into being in this timeline again (presumably minus the “falling to death” bit at the end).
She’s a good girl,
With a scary mama,
Writes fanfic,
Where she slashes Clex.
We’re a good team,
Tracking down the conspiracy,
But I should be,
Careful when I text.
It’s a long day,
We went to Maragda,
Tracked down Green,
And his rocket car.
And I’m a precog,
But did not see this coming,
I’m a precog,
Who’s plummeting far.
That’s it, Nera. Continue to offer the wisdom and aid for which you are known. And then look for a tow rope in the car to toss down to Jonah before he goes splat.
Shadowmehr: She’d need to throw it pretty hard. Jonah’s got quite a lead already.
It’s probably just as well that he didn’t send the message about the rocket car, anyway. The vehicle’s not nearly loud enough to manoeuvre like this using rockets, even if the exhaust is hidden away somehow. I think it’s actually propelled by the force of no-one having told its creator that cars can’t do that.
Do dadaism or post-modernism exist in the mainstream in the Narboniverse, or does the veil of sanity work on a subtler basis than a mere ‘weirdness filter’?
We don’t as yet have confirmation of what caused the “weirdness block” Nera is referring to, but as I see it there are two prevailing theories, and neither of them could really be called dadaism or post-modernism.
One is chemical — the Cure that Helen first developed when she was trying to prevent Dave from slipping into madness, but which unfortunately caused total blindness to anything remotely “weird”, and turned the subject nauseatingly mundane. Later (see http://skin-horse.com/comic/2014-10-30/ ), the Institute was also doing something with a Cure which had the same effect on its subjects, so it’s reasonable to assume they acquired it somehow from Helen – probably by stealing it, but you never know.
The second is a piece of mind-control computer software, developed by WhimsyCorp to make its customers want to buy more merchandise, but with the potential for full-blown mind control, and unwittingly sold to Anasigma, who undoubtedly wanted it for exactly that.
In the case of either Helen Narbon or Anasigma, “subtle” is not exactly a word I’d use in connection with much of anything they do.
Panel three is the very best illustration of one fell swoop I’ve ever seen.
Uuuuughhh… that was terrible. XD
OMG! That’s the most brilliant visual pun I’ve seen in a long time! Kudos!
Damn you for being more clever than I.
Swoop, there it is. . . .
Why, oh why, did they not just get back in the trunk?
Because that would be too sensible? o_O
“Common sense would be cheating.”
Because it’s dark and jiggly in there.
Well, hey! Knowing the right emojis to use in a situation like this can be a valuable thing, right? n_n

How many people get kidnaped on the Bonneville Salt Flats? Is there anywhere ELSE you’d look for a rocket car? Hmmmm, Speedy would know.
All the way down thinking, “Oh God, not the shoes again!”
Oh, this had better be one of the quantum visions…
If he dies now, the changes to the timeline could be considerable…

Since he’s psychic, maybe he can save himself with Ness’s floaty double jump, or a well timed PK Thunder.
Oh, dear, it looks Jonah is in quite a pickle!
I wonder if he’s got a new checkpoint?
You know what they say about story plots: (1) Girl gets Boy into Pickle, (2) Boy gets Pickle into Girl.
Should’a been one comment up. Darn these quick click-ons…
Thumbs up! Lol!
It’s a very old joke.

I’m picturing Mr. Green swooping back around and catching Jonah on the hood, and saying “Now that I have your attention….”
Does Nick show up as the deus ex machina?
I hope not. I’d rather not see him “catch” Jonah on his rotors.
Doesn’t Nick have some kind of manipulator arm on the side? Would still be a tricky catch, though. Then again, Nick is very, very good.
Where’s Spock with his rocket boots when you need him?
Presumably sitting by a campfire singing Row, Row, Row Your Boat.
Why is that what you presume
So does the Department of Jetpack Suppression cover flying cars as well, or just Jetpacks?
Obviously flying cars are a different department. This is the Shadow Bureaucracy, after all.
But flying platforms were demonstrated as part of jet pack suppression
plummeting… plummeting… is there an app for that?
Yes. Lyft…
I’m old-fashioned. To me, it’s impossible to text anything that doesn’t come out weird.

Free falling, yeah.

I’m free,

Well done, sir!
I’d imagine he has some non-humans in his address book,,,
Yes, Nick.
We’re in one of the alternate universes where he dies, aren’t we?

“Hope you get my text before I hit the ground.” Not that it would help. Unless it’s Nick and he’s closeby.
