You know, I’m wondering whether those Drones are *just* Drones. Or if they’re AIs too. There could be a lot more Skin Horse Clients showing up once Nick has talked them down.
I wanna see all the drones form a sphere around Ira’s escape helicopter, which is decidedly a non-military model. One gun, even a big one, against dozens of drones does not a good equation make.
Was there only ever one pig? Weโve in no way seen everyone. Plus, if the biomass โbarfedโ up HT, itโs possible they felt bad about the others here they ate and released them as well.
The drones are all stopped for a tick. They’re floating around—was it Nick? But if that pulled the plug, why is Lee feeling smug? Or was it their making out? Ick!
Good point. That reminds me. There was a general who was worried about being busted down to capuchin. I wonder if she avoided that fate and just which side she would end up on? @_@
A curious contemplation. But at that point in the Narboniverse timeline, I don’t know that a non-human would have been allowed to hold any military rank at all. That was before the legislation that granted non-humans equal rights.
I think Mr. Green may be out of shoes to drop. He looked rather flapped when Sweetheart produced an accurate org chart. Shortly thereafter, he attempted to escape, which suggests that he recognized that he’d lost. All the stuff with Tip was just a delaying tactic until Englebright could get there to extract him.
Exactly. A good villain always has a doomsday plan that they fall back on when all is lost that needs to be stopped at the last second by our heroes. The law of Narrative Causality demands it!!
Like anime, but done with Shaenon’s skill! I’ve been told that anime is a Japanese word meaning “I don’t draw so well”, but I can’t say- they took Astro Boy off local TV ca. 1970; my last exposure… Wonder if it’s floating around the Net?
There is some very good, even great, anime around these days. My gateway was “Spirited Away”, a magnificent movie written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, who has also created many other classics of the genre (and draws very well.)
She does – I think that’s because Unity looks best when she’s happy, and she’s really, really happy in the last panel. (And not overthinking things, like Sweetheart.)
That’s just Sweetheart’s default expression whenever someone else has a reason to be smug. Or, more to the point, when whatever worked out wasn’t Sweetheart’s idea.
Smugness in general, perhaps, since the fact that the neural net worked at all gave her cause to be smug. But now she is insufferably smug. That’s a whole new level.
Indeed. It would be a shame if our beloved dragons were injured to the point that they were no longer able to fly. OTOH, there are multiple Mads around who can help them.
Looks like Unity understands her Mom pretty well. ๐
It’s delightful seeing Unity “sharing a moment” with her creator!
They’ve come a long way.
How much sharing can they do over their neural net? ‘Cause if Nick and Virginia did the nasty, with everybody around listening in…(shudders)
Not just listening. Feeling (see Sweetheart’s expression in panel 4). But it hasn’t come to that – yet. ๐
Besides, Nick and Dr. Lee are savvy enough to sever the connection from Unity’s neural net at need.
These VR connections can get a little unpleasant.

Or maybe they all form a sentient neural net? Or better yet, they become a sentient neural net because of Nick?
I wanna see all the drones Voltron into a single largeish robot body.
That said, should be a nice resolution regardless. Yay for good planning ๐

Or the drones could collectively rescue Tip.
Would Anex One and “Drone Voltron” make out?
No, because the drones are decidedly non-funky.
In the background, looks like The Pig is aiming a weapon. Wasn’t he eaten by the Biomass?
Was there only ever one pig? Weโve in no way seen everyone. Plus, if the biomass โbarfedโ up HT, itโs possible they felt bad about the others here they ate and released them as well.
If someone is being smug in your favor, is it still insufferable?
Quite likely.
The drones are all stopped for a tick. They’re floating around—was it Nick? But if that pulled the plug, why is Lee feeling smug? Or was it their making out? Ick!
No way this is the extent of Ira’s plans. Waiting for that other shoe now.
Good point. That reminds me. There was a general who was worried about being busted down to capuchin. I wonder if she avoided that fate and just which side she would end up on? @_@
Would being busted to Capuchin actually involve a reduction in rank, or be more of a gain in body hair (and cuteness)?
As it turned out the latter was precisely what she was worried about. I guess it’s not impossible that she would still keep her rank after that. ๐

Unity looks really cool in the last panel!
Like anime, but done with Shaenon’s skill! I’ve been told that anime is a Japanese word meaning “I don’t draw so well”, but I can’t say- they took Astro Boy off local TV ca. 1970; my last exposure… Wonder if it’s floating around the Net?

Huh, I’d have thought Dr.Lee smugness was just sort of a constant background element of the neural net.
Smugness in general, perhaps, since the fact that the neural net worked at all gave her cause to be smug. But now she is insufferably smug. That’s a whole new level.
I do hope that wing puncture we saw yesterday wasn’t too painful and can heal up all right.
Indeed. It would be a shame if our beloved dragons were injured to the point that they were no longer able to fly. OTOH, there are multiple Mads around who can help them.
Next month’s wallpaper idea… Unity from that final panel, framed on a “Rosie the Riveter” style recruitment poster for Skin Horse.
On the “Extras” page, you’ll find a “Zombie Rights Now” former wallpaper of Unity as Rosie the Riveter.
Oh, I know. But her expression here is just so awesome!
Looks more like it should be a V-day image.
Or celebrating a touchdown at a football game.
Can someone remind me why Unity no longer wants to kill Dr. Lee?
Dr. Lee got Unity ichor inside her… after being Dr. Lee a while she took pity on her.
