Pavane and Ira are two peas in a pod. Or two bees, whatever. They’re both extreme genetiphobes (is that a word? Spellcheck doesn’t think so.)
Ira wants to eliminate all of the non-humans from the Earth. Oddly enough, Pavane also wants to take all the non-humans off the Earth.
It makes one wonder…
All this time, Gavotte has been trying to get humans and non-humans to live in harmony, while both Ira and Pavane are against that idea. What if this spaceship isn’t going to Lovetron after all, but is just going somewhere to dispose of everyone all at once without a fight.
I could definitely see that. He’s worked with bees before.
Pavane didn’t show up until Ira’s (other?) plans had failed, and she showed up to Sweetheart when she was stuck in Anasigma’s VR program. I think it depends on how pushy she is to the non-humans who choose not to go, especially since there seems to be very few.
Though even if the spaceship does go to Lovetron, technically Ira was helping facilitate Pavane’s plan all along by pushing nonhumans away… Imagine if Pavane had been manipulating Ira.
A most intriguing possibility, Duth. Ira has admitted being perplexed by Gavotte. What if Gavotte spawned Pavane not over the “tea vs coffee / Coexistence vs Escape” tensions but as part of a Pushme-Pullyou plot to manipulate Ira into providing motivation for all the NHS to board the ship?
Hmmm
I wonder…
HT and Pavane are both nonhuman separatists, and the possums were in HT’s employ before they blew themselves up to join Pavane…
Could the two be in cahoots?
Not impossible. But this goes back to something I observed a longtime ago; Nobody is better at killing Socialists then other Socialists particularly when a shot at real power is in the air. The fact that H.T. is a Terran nonhuman supremacist and Pavane is a Lovetron supremacist might be all the reason they need to hate each other’s guts.
HT is in a cage and that doesn’t exactly say “leaving willingly”.
Sure, even his own hive mind rejected him, but I don’t think there’d be a *worse* punishment for him than a one-way trip to a utopia that needs no revolutions.
There’s always the possibility that they anticipate HT’s knowledge could be useful in planning another wave of ‘immigration’ about the time the current war becomes the ‘old war’ again.
Pavane asks Tip to push the cage into the tractor beam. I know he’s super-strong whenever the plot demands it, but he’d find it a lot easier to do if there wasn’t a tiger sitting in it.
As for the tiger, he isn’t in a good position whatever he does. He’s a non-native species. If he tries to flee, he’s likely to be shot with a tranquiliser dart and locked up in a cage (albeit a larger one than this implement of torture) if he’s seen by people who don’t know he can talk. The same is true if they do know, and know who he is.
If he tries to board the saucer, he becomes someone else’s problem.
There’s a tiger that has to be shipped . But Wilkin is still being gypped. He’s lost his true love, but he’s asked for a shove. Is Tip finding things too untipped?
What’s suspicious is that the tractor beam doesn’t appear to be steerable, which is not at all practical. Asking Tip to push the tiger into the beam is the same as telling him to stand next to the tiger, which allows them to be beamed (or exterminated) simultaneously. And if the beam is really a transporter, maybe we’ll get a narcissistic tiger with therapy puppets.
Any reason why Tip doesn’t tell Pavane to pound sand here?
I can’t think of even one.
It did occur to me that “Large and [potentially] angry swarm of bees.” might be a consideration.
The bee allergy
Plus getting rid of H.T. is worth a little irritation.
Tip is so irked he isn’t even nervous about bee stings!
What exactly are they going to do with HT on Lovetron? Will they be able to handle him? You know he will persuade someone to let him out of the cage.
He’s like the superintelligent AI in a box
Tigerlily said. H. T. will be the centerpiece of her conversation pit.
Yes, but that was like three shocking revelations ago, when she was still Tigerlily. I’m not sure Princess Bernice is going to have a conversation pit
She never said she *wasn’t* going to do it.
Okay, itβs officially suspicious that the bee people are taking all nonhumans that they can with them but not their baseline human associates.
It’s their openly stated agenda, isn’t it? I’m not sure what the suspicion there would be.

Or perhaps it’s a genuine partnership between Ira and Pavane. That might be amusing too. π
Rude!
Nope. They got gassed. π
Agreed. That’s just twisting the knife and placing a sign on Lava he’s nonexistent trousers saying “Karma please come kick me! “.
Huh, I don’t know what happened to my name in the above post. Weird.
Hmmm

Could the two be in cahoots?
I could buy that.

I’m sure he can think of some pretext to star in his very own adaptation of “Paradise Lost”….

Perhaps Wilkin can do what Wilkin does best. Seduce Pavane and get her to agree to let him go with them. That or get her to admit what she’s up to.

You put a sapient into a cage designed to hold a non sapient and they will get out, hands or no hands.
All this while Marcie and Chris are still passed out back at the hotel.
Yeah, still waiting for the other shoe to drop on that one
HT tries to seduce Tip to get himself out of the cage.
Tip mojos with HT.
The ship nobody was expecting goes canon.
I’m probably wrong but just IMAGINE if I’m right.
So, what, Tip is too human for Pavane, but not human enough for Anasigma tech?

Unfair!
Great callback, kiralamouse – thanks!
Tip Wilkin: Man Without a Species.
That sounds about right.
There’s a tiger that has to be shipped . But Wilkin is still being gypped. He’s lost his true love, but he’s asked for a shove. Is Tip finding things too untipped?
Hey guys! SPOILER – It’s April Fools Day. That adds another layer to the outstanding reasoning everyone has done,..

In my head, Tip uses the expression “get on board” in the fourth panel because he’s subconsciously channeling the Great Space Coaster theme.
I can’t find the disco or funk song I remember using the phrase, but I found a lot of lyrics for a spiritual song that I don’t remember offhand.
