Chris appears to have misunderstood what happened in the interview. I’m sure Sweetheart was actually sincere about hiring him if he could provide his own equipment. He just needs to find sponsors! No doubt if he properly explains things to Marcie, she’ll figure it out.
“Y’see Chris, I know this guy who can provide lab stuff cheap, so I kinda rocked the interview at this one shadow government agency . . . don’t be mad. I just wanted to see the old team again. If you give me a while, I’m sure they’ll let me hire an assistant!”
Market saturation? No matter what kind of labor you provide, if there are fewer open positions in your field than there are qualified people, then you’re going to have people who can’t find a job.
This is partly why the economy in America is suffering, and why college tuitions and student debts are so monstrous – there simply are too many people with degrees, and not enough positions for them to fill. Schools knowingly give out more degrees than the market can make use of, and they don’t care what happens to students once they graduate – except that they pay their loans off.
Chris should try for one of the evil government grants that Helen Narbon got. He’s not evil but I’m sure they’d go for the whole “irradiating things” thing. At least I don’t think Chris is evil. . .
Time to see if Narbonic Labs is hiring! ^_^
He could figure out how to make the coffee irradiate people in new and exciting ways!
Are you sure MARCIE isn’t already hired by Narbonics Labs? Mell had to be replaced somehow.
Hey, cookies is cookies no matter the reason for buyin” ’em…
Could be worse. His main job skill could be hiding under beds.

I’m sure that’d go over just peachy too
Good call.
Meant to be a reply to Candace.
Would’a thought Skin Horse could use a staff nuclear engineer…somebody’s gotta check the repair work on Hitty.

I <3 Toxic Waste shirts available in the store when?
Dude’s got a doctorate in (presumably) nuclear engineering. What’s keeping him from getting snapped up?

The last several years on his CV are listed as “[redacted]”?
Two kinds of people
(Note both make good points)
For nuke engineering, that’s not exactly unexpected though is it?
