That’s why she calls it “Brainless Me’s idea” — because she thought of it before she got smart. She’s still hopped up on brains now, which is why she’s smart enough to question whether it was really a good idea.
Greem: And she’s invested too much into the “impress the Transgenic League with Virginia’s drones” idea to realise that it’s almost certain to fail dismally, and wouldn’t impress them much even if it worked.
Well, technically, it’s not really misrepresenting the tech either – that would be “two separate drones” maybe, not “two separate caps”. What they’re trying to demonstrate is that a drone can be an effective stand-in, not that any of the SH staff is a particularly smooth operator…
The point of the two helmets isn’t so that Tip can provide smooth lines to make Sweetheart look good… Well, okay, it isn’t just about that. The main problem they’re trying to gloss over is that you can’t use the helmet for long before it shorts out. So, yes, they’re misrepresenting the tech.
It’s only misrepresentation if they try to tell them that it’s only one operator. If they go ahead and tell them that it’s gonna take two to make it work, then at least they’re being honest — even if it’s not particularly impressive.
One can try and fail, baby,
Two can make that drone so real.
One can move the arms and legs,
Two can make the sales pitch spiel.
One can get a foot in door,
Two can do the interview.
One could short it out with a bark,
Two might find they have a clue.
It takes two, baby,
It takes two, baby,
Know itโs true, just takes two
It takes two, baby,
It takes two, baby,
To make the drone come through, just takes two.
Wow. This strip is highly symbolic of something about human (and semi-human) nature. I’m not sure exactly what it’s symbolic of, by it is by a long shot.
Is it just me, or is Smart Unity getting better each time we see her? I certainly like the idea that as she grows up her usual self gets smarter (I’m pretty sure she’s better than she used to be) and her smart self gets more personable.
Is she still hopped up on brains right now? ‘Cause I thought it was Smart Unity that came up with this scam…
Normal Unity came up with the dual-operator idea, then went to go get some brains so she’d have the ability to implement it.

What we really need is a way to get Sweetheart smart enough to question whether it’s a good idea.
It’s not that she’s not smart enough. It’s that she’s too preoccupied with social standing to question whether or not it’s a good idea.

I don’t get the impression they’re going to share that detail, though.

Sweetheart. This is one of those zany plans. The former will lead to the latter.
When can we get a set of helmets to run certain world leaders?
You sure they aren’t already being run remotely? ๐
Unity, after eating the brains of several IT workers you’re in no position to cast moral aspersions.
(Admittedly, they were A-sig employees and therefore probably evil, but still…)
I know how to evaluate plans where you lose your hat. Plans where you end up with extra hats confuse me.
Remember, the one with the best hat is in charge!

There are too many CEOs with this kind of mindset.
Heck, there are too many middle managers with this kind of mindset.
