Given that it would be nearly impossible for the two of them to have a physical relationship, I kinda have to wonder how their relationship would actually change if they admitted they loved each other?
Actually if you can force yourself through the poor quality of much of the writing, you can find a very practical answer to that question in the blog I wrote on “psychic” sex. It is really about Focusing and Therapeutic Touch but the sexual stuff is real. It works. Sorry to be self promoting but this is not commercial in any way and the answer is strictly applicable to the problem. Of course since Nick lacks genitals the connection would be to the parts of his brain that interpret sexual sensation.
Considering that she designed his sensorium as well as his furnishings, I’m sure she could rewire and reupholster part of his hold to allow for mutual pleasure.
The trick is to get Nick and Dr. Lee on the same wavelength (so to speak). The VR option is only the first step in what could be a beautiful relationship that could also include their separate careers.
….Well, impossible as things stand. That said, I’m honestly not sure how Nick would feel about Dr. Lee building a “fully functional” android drone body for him to use. That just seems like it’d be super awkward.
Cloning Nick’s body or else using time travel to snatch the old one back for him shouldn’t be too hard for the right sort of Mad Science either. Accepting GInny’s designation of herself as sane that still doesn’t preclude their finding someone with the fight madskilz who can do the job of that for them.
“the right sort of Mad Science” = That which gets the job done. Lack of collateral damage is a plus.
“Likely outcome” = Nick and Ginny get to go at it like two little bunny rabbits after Nick puts a gold ring on her finger and a parallel universe that didn’t want to live anyway ceases to exist to fuel the necessary trip back in time. ^_^
I know a mad scientist who’s good at cloning whose work she could de-madify. But Nick likes being a tilt-rotor aircraft – he probably wouldn’t care to be human again.
I had the impression Nick enjoyed “driving” the Bubbles drone. Obviously he wouldn’t want to permanently transfer his consciousness to an anthropomorphic body, be it organic or cybernetic, but I suspect he would not object to Virginia providing him with an anatomically correct and functional drone body that would be at his disposal to use when he wants, such as for him and Virginia to “get it on.” As others have pointed out, VR would also be an option.
Honestly nick would probably prefare useing this body, as it stands, to do his best. That said his sensors and audio system are top notch he can probably create touch. Nick doesn’t fit in his brain anymore as Virginia has mentioned. But I think Nick is trans so he would be unwilling to leave this body. Finally Virginia can probably stimulate Nick directly or through the system as is.
Yeah, I agree with Caelo. Nick sees the helicopter as his real body – he doesn’t want his old one back.
On another note, it took me way too long to track down the title source; so many Google results reviewing a children’s book as being fun for some. But it’s Jumanji, right?
They share the same universe as Dave Davenport, who spent no small amount of time as a brain floating in alcohol. I’m sure Artie could put them in touch with someone useful on that front.
Nick could channel his consciousness through a willing human conduit like, I don’t know, perhaps, Tip? Nick could bring the sincerity of emotional feeling and Tip could bring the mojo. And much touching would ensue. Nick, I’m sure, would totally love that.
I think Nick would rather jam two phillips head screwdrivers into his eye sockets than inhabit Tip for a while, even if it meant not he and Ginny wouldn’t be able to get their thing on.
I don’t think I’ve commented before yet, but this seems like a good time to say that for a while now I’ve been seeing the front of Helicopter Nick as a deformed Yoshi face (of Super Mario origin).

I want to say one word to you. Just one word. Are you listening?
“Teledildonics”.
“Dr. Lee”
Enough said

Or she could build him a new romantic body with strong sensitive hands to caress a woman’s body and an antimatter energy beam to destoy worlds.
VR Suite -> VR Dr Lee for the yaoi win! http://skin-horse.com/comic/wardrobe-any-more/
Having left you with a class 3 fetish retardant, I leave, my work done well. 🙂

Maybe Virginia can become another disembodied brain like Nick? Also, Nick can borrow the Bubbles (formerly Violet Bee) drone for a few hours.

Please define the “right sort of Mad Science”, and the likely outcome in the Skin Horse world.
Thank you for you time.

Possibility for a powerfully Pygmailian plotline!

Yeah, but he was an ugly drunk…

I guess now we know Aimee is a coworker, not presently aboard Nick.
Is Nick no longer working with team AGI?
Ah, the basis of all good platonic relationships, mutual loathing.
