I think you might be onto something. Hasn’t GODOT been grammatically consistent throughout the storyline? “DESTROY” doesn’t agree syntactically with either Unity’s question or the sentence it’s in.
Actually “DESTROY” works just fine in that sentence, if you imagine quotation marks around the word “DESTROY,” thus: I’m told “DESTROY” is played out.
Unity asks what GODOT really wants, and GODOT is torn. “I really want to destroy,” it thinks, “but they say that’s what entities like me usually want. Do I go for it anyway, or seek something more original?” And with six words, GODOT inscribes in Unity’s perception (and ours) an acknowledgement of both sides of its internal debate.
That GODOT hasn’t been using much punctuation, apart from the occasional apostrophe, may or may not be significant, but perhaps that’s fodder for a different discussion.
I know an actual connection is implausible, given GODOT’s skill with words, but the emphasis on “DESTROY” in the fourth panel takes my brain right back to the Killotrons in “Cowardly Lion.” (Heh. “Happily, we are purged of our old destructive impulses and now live only to destroy.”)
Godot wants everyone in the dark. He doesn’t want anyone to know what his purpose is. His game is DESTROY.
Do Everything Simply to Really Obfuscate You.
I have to say, whatever Godot’s secret drives are, it has a great sense of word layout and typography. Note the subtle but neat slanting of the words “too much light,” like a flashlight beam.
I like lost, in the dark
And I feel my power rise
And spread like the gods
Is it fear that you are in?
I get weak in a chance
Isn’t this what’s called happenstance?
And that’s when I know
Cause when you read
You can’t let go
Told by whom? o_O
Lovelace? Violet Bee? Or perhaps somebody a bit more sinister? @_@
He could be referring to Ginny on October 6th. She didn’t use those exact words, but she was pretty dismissive of the idea.
This is making me even more suspicious of that word.
I bet it’s an acronim for something.

“DESTROY” still doesn’t agree syntactically with the question. In that case it would be “TO DESTROY.”
(TUNE: “I’ll Take Manhattan”, Rodgers & Hart)
I like destruction!
The introduction of C4
Is something I adore …
Please, more!
To make me love you,
A smidgen of plutonium
Would have folks running from
A burning, glowing slum!
Give me some!
If you are pining
‘Cause I am shining much too bright,
A stick of dynamite
I’ll light!
If you’d like me to destroy
Each St. Charlie girl and boy …
Then pure destruction I will employ with joy!
The understatement of the year.

That, my friend, is screwy enough to just be absolutely right.

And another filk that immediately cane to mind …
(Song – Lost in your Eyes by Debbie Gibson)
I like lost, in the dark
And I feel my power rise
And spread like the gods
Is it fear that you are in?
I get weak in a chance
Isn’t this what’s called happenstance?
And that’s when I know

Even when she’s smart, Unity is still Unity.
I think it is interesting we are getting Unity ‘s side of this conversation from her “blond” side.
“In order to understand harmony we must first investigate discord.”
But I don’t want to be lost in the pure white light of stupidity…
