Heck, I am just proud. That was an awesome episode, and really shows off how awesome an actor Sir Patrick Stewart is.
Say it with me: There. Are. Four. Lights!
What took you so long to discover this? I knew the man was awesome back in the DeLaurentis version of Dune. “If you’d fought one whit below your abilities, I’d’ve given you a scar to remember!”
In high school, we read The Great Gatsby, and were told that the green light at the end of the pier represented Gatsby’s love for Daisy, which ennobled him, even though she wasn’t worthy of it.
Nick’s probably feeling quite lonely – after all, he’s had to cope with a lot of unusual situations, and being an introvert doesn’t help in the slightest:
One day he’s just a normal gamer nerd, then in a series of events he finds out the past few months he’s been locked in a VR environment and that his brain’s been transplanted into a V-22 Osprey, he discovers he can fly and is recurited to transport Project Skin Horse everywhere (which is great – but possibly he realised there are some limitations to his new body), he’s given the use of a humanoid drone to roam around in (slight hitch: it’s female), but he makes the best of the situation by dressing as androgynously / masculinly as possible, then he finds himself on the Whimsy mission which doesn’t go entirely according to plan as he has to dress ultra-girly, then returns home to find Dr. Lee (who’s both responsible for his new bodies and happens to be cute enough to crush on) doesn’t have the same outlook on a pivotal ST:TNG episode (looking it up on Memory Alpha, shades of 1984).
For all the new experiences he’s had, he believes he doesn’t quite fit in and no-one understands him (after all, nobody else he’s encountered will have had anything remotely comparable to his experiences, so will find it hard to truly empathise with him). Added onto which, the social took him out of his comfort zone (he’d like to be more comfortable around people, but he doesn’t feel confident enough).
I’m on the roof, I’m all alone and kinda scared … (kinda scared … kinda scared …)
To go out with a girl, I never dared! (cooties cooties cooties cooties …)
But I remember when Doctor Lee
Told me my courage was plain to see …
I’ll be brave, so I’ll go and I’ll talk to a girl!
With the recent format/layout change in the website, I don’t have the ability to click on a story title and be directed to a page with thumbnails for all of the strips in that story line. I found this feature really useful when I wanted to search through a story arc for connected plot lines – as I really want to today. With the new format, I can only click “back” to go through strips, or click the title of the strip and be directed to the first strip in that chapter. Any suggestions?

Chapter: My House Is Me, Skin Horse”
You see where it says “Chapter”? Those links take you where you want to go. It will be very, VERY slow, though.
I freely admit that I had to look it up, because I didn’t recognize the name Gul Madred. When I realized which story she was talking about, I had to agree with Nick. Even for a mad scientist-type, there’s something wrong with Dr. Lee’s thought processes. Just wrong…
I didn’t recognise the name Gul Madred either, but I knew from the comments about the lights which episode is being referred to.
I have enough knowledge of psychology to know that sometimes people latch onto irrelevant details as a way of avoiding looking at stuff we’d rather not think about.
I also know there are people who get a lot of pleasure out of finding inconsistencies and errors in various works of fiction, and that doing so doesn’t mean one is unaware, or uncaring, of the deeper message.
Below the comic, on the right is the “Select Story” drop-down list of every Skin Horse story /”chapter” in the archive. Clicking on a title will take you to the first comic of that story; then you can click on the “Chapter” link below Shaenon’s name to get to the scroll of every comic in the story, as Rex Vivat has described.
I am both proud and disturbed that I know EXACTLY what he’s talking about.

Why do I have this little flute?

Why be disturbed by it? Fly your geek flag high, my friend! The meek shall inherit the Earth, but the GEEK shall inherit the Stars!
BTW, you ever plan on getting your friend F’Lar to post here anytime soon? -_^
Dang no edit button. I meant I know exactly what SHE’S talking about… but then again, what I wrote actually fits too.

Maybe I need to get out more. Or less.
Gendered pronouns are over-rated. I mean, even some of the… what’s the PC term? flesh people are getting fed up with them.
Is Nick wearing dog-tags? He is! Dr. Lee got him dog-tags!!
He’s had those dog tags for a long while, now. It’s how Jonah recognized him in the end of Choose.
I see he’s dressed Extra Manly with dog-tags…

Not often you see someone literally beside themself with anxiety.
David Breslin for the win! I nominate this as Comment of the Week.
We did have some fan art that had Nick poking his own brain in a jar with his current drone/robotic creation.

Oh hey! That’s incredibly helpful, thank you!

I had clicked to reply to Brian.
I am sorely disappointed that nobody made the “Nick is beside himself” joke before now.
Let me erase your disappointment: David Breslin made that joke around 19 hours before you did.
I actually scrolled and scrolled to try and find how long it took for someone to say it.
