That “Calling Aimee” screen sorta makes me think the tech is, like, ancient (10 years ago or so). I don’t suppose Nick has a picture of “Aimee” on file? Is she like Lovelace from Narbonic?
Oh. My. That is a disturbing idea… But it certainly fits with this conversation, given that Nick hit the “pinked-up cloudland”(*) with an infinite-spawn glitch.
I’d like to think that Nick throws so much at his swear filter that it gradually became intelligent and self-aware. Guess it took a job at Whimsey in its spare time…
name is literally AI me. could be an AI part of him. would anyone here describe a somewhat aware swear-filter as out of character for anasigma? or it could just be responding to his thoughts and not actually aware.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who came up with that idea. It seems unlikely, but dang if all the little details don’t fit perfectly. She even hates him as much as he hates himself!
Possible, but just as likely she’s another AI from a separate system, or another cyborg intelligence like Nick. Which would cause more amusement when they finally meet, face to . . . er, nosecone to interface panel.
Which now makes me wonder what quirk of Aimee’s *was* temporarily deleted in her case! 🙂
It only filters your perceptuon of rude things, if you are an average guy it probably doesn’t affect you.
I mean you wouldn’t notice anyway
That’s about the cutest swear I’ve ever heard
Remind me to never have pancakes with Nick…
Definitely not buttermilk pancakes.

Well, the comic did start almost 10 years ago.
The development of the V-22 Osprey dates from 1989, and it became operational in 2007 after a looong period of development.
To be honest, you could find relic tech in Nick going back nearly *thirty* years!
I’m thinking maybe Aimee *is* his swear filter. Their phrasing has so many similarities.
Huh. They would be co-workers, in a sense.
Probably not true, but I love that theory.

* Funny, that one actually makes sense…

I think I mentioned it a couple months ago…but I could easily have seen someone else mention it and kept it in the back of my mind ever since.
This idea has merit and not just because I like it. If Nick IS interfacing with his own swear filter maybe he can teach her to swear for reals.

What happens when the swear filter accidentally combines words that are meaningful – such as “blueberry waffles”
Remember Muklok, it learns
If it hits the wrong one of Dr. Lee’s breakfast codes, it won’t have time to learn.
I never knew Muklok in the first place. Who or what is that? A World of Warcraft playable character/race/thing?
He meant mukluk.
…Oh dear.
