Hey! The killbots are perfectly well adjusted young automatons! They extremely responsible and know when to DESTROY, when they should DESTROY instead, and even when the only solution to a problem is to DESTROY it.
Well , if Tintin taught me anything about space travel, it’s that you always have enough fuel for detours and avoiding space objects and alcohol attraction. It’s the air that matters.
There are two grilles on Moustachio, which mirror each other.
Frames one and four are the right hand grille as you face Moustachio.
Frame three is the left hand grille as you face Moustachio.
Hmmm, Planet Covid, yeah probably not a good advertisement, still it’s probably better than Monkeypox Island
Nice try, but we see both (front) grilles on the 2022-05-24 page, and they curve the same way. And then two (at least one still front) ones curving the other way on the 2022-05-25 page. :-3
Daibhid C is correct. Moustachio has four grilles (not two, as I wrote) in two pairs mirroring each other. 2022-03-30 has a full frontal of Moustachio.
So that is my fault for not being able to count.
1, 2, many, many-1, many-2, lots.
I am delighted that I am apparently the first person to know this one! Grivnis is a planet mentioned, but not visited, in Daniel Pinkwater’s excellent semi-sci-fi children’s book Borgel, in which the central plot was a hunt for the Great Popsicle, a sentient semi-diving living energy bundle. Grivnizoids are described as power-hungry and evil, and it becomes apparent that one of them is after the Great Popsicle.
Very good! I’d forgotten that one, but I believe there are some other excellent Daniel Pinkwater references buried throughout. For example, I think ‘Invisible Island’ in Jason Yu’s conspiracy chart is probably a reference to the invisible island in ‘Lizard Music’.
Pavane is making a lot of assumptions there:
1. that everyone will listen to something only UNITY, thus far, has suggested
2. that what they “will” want is pretty much set in stone
3. that they know what Grivnis is…
In my experience these past few years, bees like (1) electric meters, (2) the cracked concrete brick side of a front porch, and most recently (3) inside the eaves of a porch through broken soffets.
Cooperation is what they require. But Pavane does not have the desire. She still thinks she knows best, so she’s still in the chest of Moustachio behind the wire.
Isn’t part of a better world being able to experience the joys and wonders of existence? Having a popsicle with friends while looking at a starscape up close sounds pretty good to me.
Well, Pavane, if you think they “know nothing”, why have you not tried to share some of your oh-so-important knowledge, instead of assuming you are so much better that they should just blindly do whatever they are told? Informed Consent, Bitch!
I’m just feeling happy that the story was not resolved swiftly and simply by apis-ex-machina, and that everything both here and back on Earth is turning out exponentially more convoluted and complicated.
A++, thank you so much.
Also I went back to look up the bit with Sweetheart & Unity’s fake first date (with Unity playing the role of HT to the hilt) and there is so much hilarious great stuff going on there and thereafter, in particular Tip turning on the mojo in full male drag for the legislative conference.
Sorry Sweatheart, not everybody in that room is an adult. I suspect that it comes down to the metal man and you.
Hey! The killbots are perfectly well adjusted young automatons! They extremely responsible and know when to DESTROY, when they should DESTROY instead, and even when the only solution to a problem is to DESTROY it.
Well, Gussie is an adult. A bittered-by-experience adult, even if she doesn’t look the part…
I think it’s Mary. She was the one with the shades.
Yes thanks for the correction!
Why shouldn’t the trip to a better world include detours? 🙂
economizing fuel? We don’t currently know what kind they use or how much they have left after the “shake off” maneuver
Well , if Tintin taught me anything about space travel, it’s that you always have enough fuel for detours and avoiding space objects and alcohol attraction. It’s the air that matters.
It’s always time for popsicles! 🙂
I like popsicles, my vote is for popsicles.
Except for those popsicles, that only pretend to be popsicles,
but are really medicine, *bleh*.
You’re not going to fool me again!
Cue the tiny blue scotsmen!
Is Grivnis a planet or some kind of interplanetary restaurant chain?
Because if it’s the former, finding exactly where the popsicles are is gonna be haaaard~
Not if the planet is particularly small; nor if the popsicles are particularly ubiquitous; nor if they are particularly conspicuous.
The cutouts of that grille keep flip-flopping between mirror-image shapes …
… and now I’m imagining a planet with “suitably large” popsicles sticking out so as to look like a coronavirus … X-D
Moustachio has two grills that curve one way and two that curve the other. The close-up is obviously of one of the ones on the other side.

Old Ukranian currency, though a derivative of the name is the current Ukranian currency.
I thought either a chain ice cream shop or a planet.

Pavane may be a swarm of bees, but she is definitely The Man. Complete with paternalism.
Pavane is making a lot of assumptions there:

2. that what they “will” want is pretty much set in stone
3. that they know what Grivnis is…
also d’aww, happy Sweetheart!
Is it a better world if there aren’t popsicles?
Popsicles wouldn’t get me to stop. If they’ve got a soft ice cream machine…maybe vanilla-chocolate swirlies, now…
bees tend to get stuck in that in my experience, they prefer popsicles
In my experience these past few years, bees like (1) electric meters, (2) the cracked concrete brick side of a front porch, and most recently (3) inside the eaves of a porch through broken soffets.
Human: Noo you can’t stay in there, it’s high voltage!
Bee: ha ha electric meter go buzz
Yeah… Pavane’s opening response in panel 2 doesn’t exactly suggest “cooperation”.
Cooperation is what they require. But Pavane does not have the desire. She still thinks she knows best, so she’s still in the chest of Moustachio behind the wire.
I like how the position of the bees behind the curled opening creates a facial expression for Pavane.
Question: why is Sweetheart negotiating with Pavane about cooperation?
Answer: they haven’t figured out how to fly the saucer.

they couldn’t possibly understand, of course.
they’re so immature, not like her.
Sarcasm accepted and approved. Thank you.
