When it comes to Oz comparisons, Sweetheart has always reminded me of the cowardly lion. She’s a talking furry animal who is supposed to be a terrible monster, and the only thing really holding her back is herself.
Unity reminds me of the scarecrow. She was sewn together by others, she’s obsessed with brains, and she comes across as the dumbest person on the team… except for the times when she is suddenly the smartest.
Two years too late, but…Dorothy: a hapless stranger in a dress who gets thrown into a strange world, unfamiliar to them, but ends up embracing it and loving the people there. If anything, Gavotte is more the refined but distant femme figure who sometimes deus machinas our heros out of nasty binds.
Couple years and/or a decade+ late here, but Tip is Tip, the protagonist of the second book in the series, “Marvelous Land of Oz.”
There are reasons beyond the name, but they’re spoilery to both the book and Skin Horse.
For my money, if there’s a Dorothy equivalent in the cast you can make a decent argument for Dr. Lee, at least after a while.

Then the question becomes, would Tip prefer Dorothy or Glinda?

Oh and mustachio’s got the whole tin woodsman, missing-body-parts-replaced, spent-time-as-just-a-head, finding-a-heart (love) thing going.
