In the version I read, she decided to kill everyone in the world including herself, and then she did so. The resulting timeline featured a Mell who wasn’t so different from Mell Prime.
That’s what was shown on the video tape that the Dave’s received. But the future is always changing, so that was just one possible outcome.
At the actual end of the comic series – even though she had seen the tape – she chose to help save Dave. Dave and Helen’s daughter kept showing up, so there’s at least one potential future where Dave doesn’t turn Helen into a brain-in-a-jar.
And now that I think about it, it just might be Dave and Helen that Mr. Green really wants, and he’s thinking that killing Artie, or even trying to kill Artie, will draw them out in the open.
I agree with echo bravo. How does Stuart Little end? I personally think he finds Margalo and they live happily ever after. Ms. Garrity, a sequel please?
And BMunro was wondering who’d be Sam to EB’s Frodo, bolstering his will against the evil they were sent to destroy. Artie and the tall sturdy one may be mutually dangerous, but Alfa Alfa will kill Artie if he tries anything.
It just occurred to me that Artie being in Skin Horse means that all of this could be said to be happening in the world of The Ratio and that’s… both cool, and weird, and honestly better than the real 2020 anyway?
So it was Artie all along.
Oooh, resistance is …..
Actually quite entertaining
kinkier than one would expect?
So, they will totally lose to the sexual tension after all…but it’ll be a threesome.
Well, it was a shame about these two.
EB has survived shoe training, so he has a further roll in the Skin-Horse saga.
I don’t think killing a Narbon is going to go over well with the other two Narbons. (We all know Dave took her name)
Well, it’s not called Davenportic
You’re assuming that Dave and Helen would get to them before Mell?
They’d better hope that Mell gets to them first.
Mell didn’t end Narbonic on good terms with her little buddy Artie… or anyone else, arguably including herself.
In my view, she went from comic relief to the darkest character in the run.
“Mell didn’t end Narbonic on good terms with her little buddy Artie… or anyone else, arguably including herself.”
Did you read a different version of Narbonic than I did?
In the version I read, she decided to kill everyone in the world including herself, and then she did so. The resulting timeline featured a Mell who wasn’t so different from Mell Prime.
That’s dark enough for me.

Why does Anasigma not want Artie dead?
You can’t trust those Unitarian ministers…
I think if Anasigma wanted Artie dead, it wouldn’t have sent these two clowns. No idea what it wants, but Anasigma should be more competent than this.
All evidence to the contrary. 😉
I’m guessing that A-Sig wants Artie to lead them to someone else, and they’re hoping that when these two fail to kill him, that where he’ll go.
And now that I think about it, it just might be Dave and Helen that Mr. Green really wants, and he’s thinking that killing Artie, or even trying to kill Artie, will draw them out in the open.

Forgot I can’t post pictures here. So here’s a link to the picture.

Does Helen have a copy of Artie’s mind and genome stored somewhere in case of an accident?
Probably not a current backup.
Alright, nevermind on that realizing their the bad guys thing.
Oh HELL no. DO NOT KILL ARTIE.
It’s weird that you think they’re capable of killing one of Helen Narbon’s masterpieces.
Nahh, I’m just paranoid. Also, my favorite characters in fiction get offed WAY too often and I freakin’ adore Artie.
Or that Dave would let it stand.
Or that Mell would let *them* stand.
Have you ever got an envelope from Shaenon?
Who did it have doodled on it?
Artie’s pretty safe. 😉
(Though now that I think about it, I am not sure why I think all those envelopes have sketches of Artie rather than sketches of a random gerbil…)
Artie’s stochastic skills should have tipped him off about what’s going down. Unless he wants to die in a flamboyant manner.
And it’s entirely possible that he is aware of what’s about to happen, and has something interesting planned for his visitors.
Ok, so who else is hoping that Sergio swings in on a rope to save him?
Yo!
Sergio was not the most note-worthy rope swinger in the Narboniverse, that title belonged to a certain English prof.
I find it delightful that in the third panel Artie is reading aloud from Stuart Little.
Nearly a biography.
I agree with echo bravo. How does Stuart Little end? I personally think he finds Margalo and they live happily ever after. Ms. Garrity, a sequel please?

So Artie is the Ring? So Sauron is played by Sweetheart? Helen, Mell, or Dave?
Mr. Green is Sauron of course. Sweetheart is more of a Samwise character.
I think Artie would eat alfa alfa for brunch …
Everybody wants to bounce the Echo, but he’s protected. Alpha Alpha means Echoes First. It’s not about size, it’s about determination and destiny.

These two, against a super-intelligent mojo-user?
They’re boned. Literally euphemistically.
It’d be wild if Artie wasn’t the one in the room they were sent to kill.
Lil’ Mell? THAT would be weird time slip.
Is that a Robin cameo?
Good catch.
*googles* Artie is reading Stuart Little! The story of a mouse-shaped boy read by a man-shaped gerbil. XD
[also googles] And the next line is “to see such a small and good-looking teacher.”
[without googling] Looks like speculation about “E. B.” and “A. A.” yesterday was right on the money.
Oooh, well played.
It just occurred to me that Artie being in Skin Horse means that all of this could be said to be happening in the world of The Ratio and that’s… both cool, and weird, and honestly better than the real 2020 anyway?
Regarding the filename story: What is stength ?
Presumably a typo of “strength”?
Yes.
I just decided to pretend to be clueless
Does Anasigma do any gun training? Because AA has terrible trigger discipline.
Go easy. It’s her first assassination.
Yeah. You can tell. Echo Bravo’s dressed in the traditional dark turtleneck and slacks, while Alfa Alfa still has her MIB outfit.
Artie knows what’s going down. He wouldn’t be there if he thought there was any chance that the people with guns were going to upset the children.
