Sorry, @BrokenEye, I had already tried that, because I wanted to know which comic the original link was supposed to point to. Nothing comes up for that link using the Wayback Machine. I don’t know if they have a problem using PHP, or what it is, but yes, the link is, in fact, quite useless.
Also worrying: just how quickly New Sapients will turn on each other. (Which is just what their creators wanted. Also, presumably just what Anasigma wants. Hm.)
I sure hope nobody fixes Moustachio’s Evil Spring!
Yeah, that’s definitely part of it. Plus, the entire ‘sapient creatures being made to fight in an arena’ thing. I’m not exactly sure what the therapeutic benefit is, there.
Don’t be so sure, he was an engine of mass destruction, to say nothing of having survived the Old War. Now that he’s mobile it may just be a matter of figuring out how to be terrifying with smaller tools.
Good luck getting anything else done for the next several weeks, Alphaghoul. When I discovered it, I had to read all the way through twice (without commentary, then with), to the detriment of my work output…
Me too! I went straight through the Narbonic serices, and after I was so disappointed it was over I re-read it. I still miss Dave & Helen & Mel. Would love it if they could have a cameo here.
chrisn, have you read the original or The Director’s Cut version of Narbonic? The original lets you just chug through the whole thing at your own pace while focusing on just the story, but The Director’s Cut gives you back story, foreshadowing, songs, notes, & commentary.
This strikes me as a perfect opportunity for Foot to randomly turn up, perhaps as ruler of these machines.
I’ve never heard of foot, what comic is it from?
Narbonic. Specifically here: http://www.webcomicsnation.com/shaenongarrity/narbonic_plus/series.php?view=archive&chapter=50919
Sadly, Webcomics Nation is no more, so the link is useless.
Good point. Here is a current link to Foot’s first appearance.

Foot is a shadow-net reporter, we learned that during the road trip.
OK, why am I finding this more ethically problematical than the forced sanity cure?
Because it means that every one of the machines here had to have terror programmed into them? (short version: only sapients allowed)

Exactly What I was worrying! That broken drive spring is probably what drives his evil gears.
Yeah, that’s definitely part of it. Plus, the entire ‘sapient creatures being made to fight in an arena’ thing. I’m not exactly sure what the therapeutic benefit is, there.
Poor Mustachio! He’s not cut out for life among roustabouts and hooligans.
Don’t be so sure, he was an engine of mass destruction, to say nothing of having survived the Old War. Now that he’s mobile it may just be a matter of figuring out how to be terrifying with smaller tools.
That’s it exactly; he was created for carnage on a grand scale, petty brawling is beneath him.
So A-Sig is testing their combat capabilities? Or are they just making videos to sell to pay-for-view?
It can’t be both?
Robo-Rally LARP!
Well everyone, I just started reading Narbonic, wish me luck.
I’m sure we all hope that you love it as much as we do.

You could write Fanfiction, chrisn: I did, but I never sent it to Jeff nor Shaenon.

try li’l mel
I’m glad I’m not the only one that read Narbonic twice.
Wonder which mad scientist created this guy?
Aperture Science wishes to remind you that Robot Hell is a very real place where you will be sent at the first sign of defiance.
Actually, I feel a little regret in not seeing whether Dr. Darling ever got a grammatically-correct poster…
Shh. In the morning
For me it’s 8:01pm sharp, usually.
Aaand here we have the true face of Anasigma . . .
What happens to the loser is obvious. What are they going to do to the winner?
For some reason I find ‘THAT CAUSED BY ME DRILLING INTO HEAD.’ particularly delightful.
