Just about everywhere in the sixties. Both “The Addams Family” and “The Munsters.” “F Troop” and “Get Smart.” Even “The Twilight Zone” and “The Beverly Hillbillies.” Go figure.
Yeah, Baron isn’t redeemed yet. To paraphrase Ruby from St. Charlie, plus five points for saving their asses, minus one million points for wasting everyone’s time with a self-indulgent pleasure palace and being an all-around asshole at every turn.
They were in cyberspace, hardly any time passed in the real world. As for “being an all-around asshole at every turn”, that’s just who he is. The fact that he jacked in to the server and left his body deactivated is what kept him from being taken by A-sig, his self-indulgence saved the day.
Credit where credit is due. Ruby was just paraphrasing Zaphod Beeblebrox.
“Yeah, well that’s a very sweet thought, Trillian. But do you really think it’s wise right now? I mean, here we are on the run and everything, we’ve got the police of half the galaxy after us, and we stop to pick up hitchhikers. Okay, so 10 out of 10 for style, but minus several million for good thinking, huh?”
Baron M. makes an entrance bombshell. Curbside service and crashing as well. He’s not much of a fighter—he tried for the lighter—but, given what’s done, what the hell.
Oh man, that first panel is great. Did Shannon need a reference for that one, or is it just the intuitive understanding of flailing and wiggling one gets from raising small children?
Hockey Pucks? Nick really rubbed off on him.
Well, they ARE in Vegas. Don Rickles annat.
??????
Thought I was the only reader here old enough to remember Don Rickles…
(Kellies Heroes fans? Mr Potato Head in Toy Story?? )
No CPO Sharkey?
Oh, I think there’s a lot more of us old farts than you realize.
LOTS of old farts!
Well, he didn’t go to his reward (and eventually die) that long ago.
Many of us remember Don. Including things like his appearance on Tales from the Crypt.
Or his guest appearance on those two episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show.
… Which had been off the air for more than a decade by the time I was born, but I did grow up watching a lot of Nick at Nite.

There was also that mainstream cinema Cthulhu Mythos movie he did.
Or his two part appearance in Jack Kirby’s Jimmy Olsen comics where his good twin, “Goody Rickels”, teams up with Superman!
Yes, really.
Hooray! My heart is filled with joy!
The dynamism and camera angles are exquisitely cinematic!
Ultra Car’s alternate dimensional version!
We Knew the Van was a Tigerlily Special…
I’ve been waiting for it to be revealed 🙂
Unicorn ex machina

Thug screams provided by Wilhelm.
OMG I called it yesterday,Baron for the win! (or my medication is just really good & strong and I’m seeing things.)
Could always be both.
The term of art is, “Embrace the healing power of ‘and.'”
I still bet he sounds like Rocket Raccoon !
I’m thinking a shouty Danny Devito.
Now I’m going to have that voice in my head for all of Baron’s lines…
Thanks?
Ah, not Tigerlily, but Baron in the Tigerlily-designed microbus.
Decided to return to the real world, did you, Baron?
Real world: NO!
Vegas: YES!

The Baron is the hero of the hour – by accident.
Yeah, that tracks.
Better lucky than good?
Now that’s a nice van.
The sound effect “pok” always makes me think of Phil Hester’s The Wretch.
It’s a Bug with a feature!
You made me laugh harder than the strip.
And now you got me wondering if Tigerlily got ahold of Dave’s old car to build this one.

Whoops, sorry for the typo.
Is it just me or does panel 2 resemble the first Superman cover with the foreground guy?
Now I’m just wondering how his feet reach the pedals.
