Yet again, the artwork is stunning! I love the vista in panel 1 showing not only Annex One looming in the background but the tent city of pavilions awaiting arrival of the Mothership.
I worry that Anasigma has changed all of Dr. Lee’s backdoors and shielded their armor against Nick’s electrokinetic abilities. But if Alfa Alfa and Echo Bravo are the leaders in charge of the strike force perhaps Valiant can persuade them to stand down while our intrepid heroes hack their comms?
I’ll leave the Annex tower tall,
And this Kansas shanty sprawl,
To make escape from this venue.
I’ll take you from those Skin-Horse swine,
Keep you safe from humankind,
Before attack time coming through.
Just the two of us,
We can see that you don’t die,
Just the two of us,
(Just the two of us,)
Just the two of us,
Don’t confuse me with your cry,
Just the two of us,
We can try.
You’ll speak your love, right in my ear,
Taste of slaughter, what it is,
Just to retain the status quo.
I used to think that I was straight,
But I knew we’d chastely mate,
It’s not braggadocio.
Just the two of us,
We can see that you don’t die,
Just the two of us,
(Just the two of us,)
Just the two of us,
Don’t confuse me with your cry,
Just the two of us,
We can try.
—from “Just the Two of Us,” Bill Withers / William Salter / Ralph MacDonald, sung by Grover Washington, Jr.
EB’s eyes are looking less beady in this strip. In at least one panel it’s to show he’s looking toward Valiant, but it also somehow feels like it’s indicative of some character growth.
He wants the rat in a safe place, ’cause tomorrow they’ll go at the base. All the rat’s friends and kin he’s about to do in—a relationship red flag disgrace.
I probably should note that by the standards of the Iliad E.B.’s,offer in the last panel is a pretty fair one. Avoiding enemies you cared about in favor of going after the ones you didn’t know or disliked anyway was considered to be reasonable. 🙂
Valiant could suggest Echo Bravo refrain from shooting at all, but Echo Bravo wouldn’t understand what he meant.
He’s working up to it, you gotta have some finesse in these situations.
A rapier IS a finesse weapon… 😀
At least E.B. is trying to meet Valiant halfway! 😉

Tent city of pavillions? Are we about to have an “Aslan shows up to change the course of the war” moment?
Not until Charlie Sierra shows up.

What’s Echo Bravo’s score on the range? He strikes me as someone more dangerous when trying to miss than when aiming directly at you.
Well, he made it with Tigerlily and Imogen back at the Institute, so that’s at least two.
