Looks like Sweetheart is probably going to have to order him to do it, though. OTOH, Tip ought to be good at taking direct orders. Sweetheart’s going to have to be the alpha bitch she was engineered and trained to be. π
I realize I’ve slowly come to hate Tip. He pisses me off so damn much. He’s just such an awful, awful person.
At this point I really don’t know which I want to see him face more – a really powerful and satisfying redemption arc, or a grisly demise.
Am I alone in this? Is he supposed to still be as likeable as he initially was when the comic began? Or was it authorial intent for us to come to despise him over time, finding it harder and harder to excuse his behaviors on account of his natural charisma and charm?
I hate Tigerlily, so I can empathize with you, but for a datum that may be of use to you, I still really like Tip.
He’s just so… nonmalicious. I can’t hold his bad behaviors against him, because (a) they’re mostly just punchlines, and (b) he generally means well? When he behaves badly it’s really more a result of not realizing that other people exist than it is any sort of malice.
Could be, although I’ve always thought Remy was awfully cute, and Konstantin is pretty hot. Chris is cute, although he can be a doofus, and just a little bit self-centered at times.
I can’t really hate Tip. His politically correct shallowness has an…elemental quality? A personification of thoughtlessness and good intentions intersecting? Hating him would be kind of like hating a force of nature.
While i never sees Tip as ‘hot’, i don’t hate him before and not now.
Well, not yet.
If this ‘Tip whining’ plot dragging too long i might change my mind.
But for now, i just mildly annoyed and hope someone just give him Bright Punch already to ‘correct’ him.
Never underestimate lack of motivation – “what would Batman do” only works as long as you still give a #### about the answer (and “because this is not who you are” does not qualify as motivation; you have, and by definition cannot have no damn idea who I am. Oh, and “I have it worse” is literally even worse). If you’re short on it, nobody can “top you up” – the best others can hope for is pushing you into a situation that will let you find some more yourself, but that happening is by no means a given. Perhaps an opportunity to regain some sense of purpose might help…?
Anyway, Tip is kinda my favourite character on this show (and I never thought I’d ever say that about a shrink…); the whole cast is cute of course, just not quite as relatable for me. Hate him? Hell no. I’m just curious where this is headed – and yes, he is kinda annoying right now but as noted that’s not exactly out of character for him…
To be fair, I often feel like I’m the only person in the comments section who thinks UNITY needs to be shot into the sun to protect life as we know it.
I think it’d still be more responsible to shoot her into our sun then to shoot her into somebody else’s sun to make trouble for them and shooting her into our sun would be about as close as we could get to dropping her into Mount Doom. The only reason I can picture for a supposed good guy outfit to keep her around would be on the same basis as Roy keeping Belkar around in “The Order of the Stick” on the theory that Belkar would be more of a menace to everyone if Roy and the others weren’t there to hold him back from time to time. @_@
At least Unity has an excuse. She’s dead and has ADHD. And even with that, she’s still more conscientious of others than Tip is.
And they have a good reason for keeping her around… so she can eat the bad guys. I mean, they kept Tip around so he could bone chicks to keep them occupied, but he doesn’t appear to be good for even that any more.
The only reason I wouldn’t want Tip to meet his untimely demise is that he’d probably end up looking like a martyr.
For some reason, Unity is my favorite character, even though she’s basically scary black goo driving a Frankenstein monster. She’s just so hilariously primal.
He seems static, in fact, his empathy to others seems to have decreased as the emphasis on the gag of his one-night stands seems to have increased. I’m not sure the last time he’s contributed to fixing a problem before the testimony in the last rac.
Totally disagree; I’m very fond of him. If anything he is NOT the shallow-as-a-shower two-dimensional character some people seem to think of him as; he’s just very good at being distracted, especially by himself.
Depends on your definition of “shallow”. I could point to a number of times when he has been so self-absorbed that he completely tuned out everyone around him. Sure, he’s done a few good deeds (such as trading his entire wardrobe for the sake of non-human rights), but then lots of despicable people do a few good deeds.
To be honest, I would say that Tip is no better or worse then those people who are still going on in 2018 because they lost the 2016 election. If forgetting that there is life beyond politics is his worst problem then he is close to leading a relatively blameless existence. π
Maybe Tip’s finally getting a growth arc. Pretty much every other core character has developed over the series, but all he’s really had was going bisexual, which made him twice as annoying according to Nick (myself, I like Tip).
But this is totally in character, of course. He’s always been a major drama queen.
Wait, what about the basement arc? He went from mildly annoyed at his dissappearing lipstick, to wanting to blast a boombox real loud! …oh wait that’s not an improvement
I really feel for him here honestly. He gave up every material possession he loved, including the really valuable vintage dresses, to fight for a cause–we’ve never seen him think outside himself until now but he threw EVERYTHING into the ring, and right now it looks like it was for nothing. The dog he was fighting for is treated like a pet, UNITY is a Serious Agent instead of a zombie, Nick is basically a helicopter with good AI…And he gave up everything for that. We’re seeing character development in action, folks. Dude was a narcissist in the beginning of the comic and he’s still self centered but he’s slowly learning how to not be. I’m related to a narcissist and lemme tell ya I WISH that person was this advanced. And the guy’s 80.
So yeah, he’s holding a non-fabulous pity party. But he’ll hopefully pull himself together soon and deal with it. He usually does π
….wow that took forever to write on a cellphone….
I’ve been feeling for a while now that Tip’s been avoiding dealing with things by retreating behind his shallowness. I guess this means that, with the loss of his wardrobe, he’s run out of things to hide from the world behind.
I sympathize, Sweetheart, I really do… I have to wear a collar to show that I have a home too, if I want to keep from getting sent to the pound, nyao. (Considering how I’d rather wear a collar to show that I have a loving Mistress, whimper…)
A shower, a shave, a fresh pair of panties…why, you’ll feel like a new man!
Looks like Sweetheart is probably going to have to order him to do it, though. OTOH, Tip ought to be good at taking direct orders. Sweetheart’s going to have to be the alpha bitch she was engineered and trained to be. π

I have to admit Tip has never been my favorite character, and he doesn’t, and never has, really read as “hot” to me.
I hate Tigerlily, so I can empathize with you, but for a datum that may be of use to you, I still really like Tip.

I never saw Tip as magnetically good-looking as he’s said to be. Maybe if I were there, instead of seeing him through cartoons…

I like him
But this is a low point

At least we can all agree that the character who literally eats babies is still cute and funny…
To be fair, I often feel like I’m the only person in the comments section who thinks UNITY needs to be shot into the sun to protect life as we know it.
I feel like you’re not worried enough about the Sun in that scenario.
I think it’d still be more responsible to shoot her into our sun then to shoot her into somebody else’s sun to make trouble for them and shooting her into our sun would be about as close as we could get to dropping her into Mount Doom. Another data point: Tip is one of my favorite characters, and I think heβs way sexy. Well, not at the moment . . .
Really? Some chicks dig that unwashed badboy look…

By the way, the last storyline established that Skin-Horse’s new offices have a puppy kennel—can’t Sweetheart just work out of there?
There’s probably no wifi or phone line connections in the kennel, for the protection of the puppies, and sadly, the inconvenience of certain managers.

well said

Some things never change.
Such as Tip finding a way to be more melodramatic about his hardships than Unity.
