They have reality-blind workers cleaning up the place? Well, I guess that makes sense if secrecy is being prioritized over worker safety…who knows what might have been left behind? (Besides Mustachio, that is)
They wouldn’t need to clear out the basement would they? There are still plenty of other black ops in the building (irradiation, jetpack suppression, etc), right?
Sort of makes it odd how desolate the building looks though.
Those two aren’t just reality blind, they’re also stupid. It makes no more logical sense for a washing machine to be behind a receptionist’s desk than a sapient, talking, clockwork android.
Very little makes sense in closed/unused/abandoned facilities.
I was involved in ‘reopening’ an unused building during a smurf period in the Navy (Boat was at sea – I had finished the school I was in when they left). Had previously been a valve repair shop. Found Landscaping supplies, cabinet full of Doll-making stuff, and a quarter pallet of lock-sets (6-24 with identical keying).
Yeah. If a facility is being decommissioned, they just shove the stuff they aren’t taking anywhere out of the way to make room to remove the stuff they are taking.
When we had to offload the ship for an extended drydocking – we were continually astonished at how much crap you could cram into the out-of-the way lockers and spaces on a submarine. We found lockers in our work-spaces that nobody knew existed. Mostly because they were inaccessible when the plant was steaming.
When it was inventoried and reloaded to the parts requirements – we left about a dozen tri-walls filled with stuff that shouldn’t have been onboard in the first place (such as spares for equipment removed years ago).
He wasn’t fired, he was reassigned. Unless he’s willing to quit, he goes where they send him. Maybe they’re trying to get rid of him? Being civil service, he can’t be fired, but they can give him an assignment that makes him want to quit.
Being civil service does not mean that he can’t be fired. But since there is considerably greater expense involved in both hiring and firing someone in civil service, it is much to their advantage to transfer someone to another department, rather than get rid of them.
But to be fair, Marisa didn’t say he was fired. She said he lost his job, which he, in fact, did. Since Skin Horse was shut down, they all lost their jobs, and had to be reassigned.
Apparently Mustachios optics have turned rose-colored with age. Hopefully those can be replaced before the salvage crews come along.
And honestly, Nick might be sincere in that last line. He probably has room to carry off Mustachio in his cockpit, and I’m sure there’s a few spare storerooms in the superhero’s HQ, wherever it is. (Judging by previous comments, it’s looking more and more likely.
Come to think of it, what happened to the Department of Irridation? Didn’t they work out of the same building as the immobile Moustachio? Did they get relocated or laid off? What happened to all their, er, stuff?
But what about the Federal Office of Giant Leaking Containers? The Clerk of the Clerk of Clerks? Sealed-off Floor 12’s wood ants? The GMO mongooses (mongeese?) on Level C? Where does Unity go when she wants to pour kerosene out the window?! Never mind the Department of Misfit toys, where do the silverfish and centipedes and zombie heads go?
Oh, please let this be just a local renovation… Or an old work order relating to upgrading the pneumatic system, shut down in ’72.
Mustachio will help Tigerlily get her groove back, just you watch.

While we can’t be sure, I seriously doubt they cleaned the basement before they shut the place down.

Given what happened, it wouldn’t be surprising if they relocated the rest and decommissioned the building.
Makes filling in the accident form a bit tricky when Lou gets eaten by giant dust mites.
Poor M. Nick needs to go get Sweetheart and Unity to free him.
…and his popcorn tin collection.
It’ll happen to Nick, too.

Pretty much. Applies to shipboard as well.

Are those two even supposed to be there? Me thinks not!
Quick Lassie, go get help! What’s that? You are not a border collie and you are not female? Well, all right then, but go get help anyway
I wonder how far “reality blindness” goes. Would these guys watch Usain Bolt and think he’s not that fast?
I think it’s all about perception. Like, if they think deep down that it’s possible for him to be that fast then they can see it.
On the other hand, there are people who still deny the world is round and that we landed on the moon. Reality Blindness to the ultimate extreme?
Noooooooo! Must! Save! Mustachio!
Noooooooo! I just finished reading your comic’s archive and now I’ve caught up to the comic! X.x I hope you update a LOT, cos I love this!
Though Tip not dripping with girls is not imaginable. I thought he’d pick up a job or a sugarmama after losing his job XD MMo
Once a day, filler on Sundays. One of the best update rates around, as far as I know.
Awesome! 🙂

Now we know how his brass pipes got replaced with PVC.
