I don’t think it’s so much that Aimee locked herself in her room, as she locked the Baron out. Nick puts up with the Baron’s crap because they’re both guys. Aimee doesn’t.
I think the tournament was actually an attempt to get Nick’s attention, hoping that he can figure out a way in. Of course, the Baron didn’t count on Nick being human, so he had to do some quick thinking to ensure Nick would still win.
(Option B is that the server crashed, and the Baron needs Nick to fix it.)
“I don’t think it’s so much that Aimee locked herself in her room, as she locked the Baron out”.
One thing in support of your idea. This whole setup does remind me of a Japanese myth concerning the sun goddess when she had locked herself away as well. But the reason I like my theory is that I figure a female hacker is still a hacker and as such is going to have times when she locks herself away in order to pursue an interesting project. Could be both. If you were working on a project would you want the Baron around to be a distraction? Significant Other or no? o_O
No, Nick still hates Tip. He may always hate Tip. Tip slept with Virginia the day they met, but Nick still hasn’t mustered the courage to tell her how he feels.
He’s blushing because he doesn’t have friends. At least, he never thought he did. He always thought he hated everybody – I mean, that’s what he always said. And he’s embarrassed that he just admitted – without even thinking – that he does have friends after all.
Could be equally be embarrasment at either Tip hearing him admit to thinking of people as friends, or at giving Tip the impression that he was included. It’s simply an awkward moment.
Let me in! Whee-ooh (whee-ooh, hoop-whee-ooh.)

With armed forces out to raid.
I’ll talk to Aimee (Aimee), or the uploads that were made.

I need to help my friends.

Actually, it *had* occurred to me that the Wilkins Power was doing a number on the part of Nick that was still a Whimsy Princess but then I figured that that was a part of him that had departed with Aimee.(Mainly because I like Augie’s theory of Nick blushing over realizing that he has friends! ^_^).
As a psychologist, Dr. Wilkins admires the breakthrough of Nick changing from a lone wolf to adopting a group. Future puppet therapy sessions will be built around this!
Baron M. doesn’t actually *have* access to the server anymore, does he?
Nope. My bet is that it went West when Aimee locked herself in her room and this whole tournament was just an attempt to get her attention. ^_^

We need to go back and rewrite this storyline so it ends with Baron enticing Amy out with a sexy dance.
“Cannot…unsee…image in head…”
Please pass the bleach and the trepanation tools, thanks ever so much.
I’m picturing the Hampster Dance, but with more pelvic thrusts… Hey, Shaenon, ever dabbled in animation?
Your blush says otherwise, Nick 🙂

Exactly. Tip is an insufferable jackass – he just made Nick realize something slightly embarassing to him about his feelings for everyone BESIDES Tip.

I was always fonder of Wontkins…
1950s Muppet coffee commercial references FTW!
Thanks for that! People’d pitch a fit about all that gratuitous violence nowadays.
What gratuitous violence?!
As a psychologist, Dr. Wilkins admires the breakthrough of Nick changing from a lone wolf to adopting a group. Future puppet therapy sessions will be built around this!
Puppet therapy is definitely one way to nip a possible friendship in the bud.
‘fraid I have replied to folk – It is nice that you think we are friends.
Well… not you.
I do believe Nick has a plan, or at least the beginning of one.
Why did a chill just go up my spine?
“Save my friends! And Wilikin!”
