This is actually pretty empathic for Tip. Dude’s come a long way.
I mean, there have been plenty of moments where he’d entirely ignore Sweetheart’s feelings and gush about HIS needs. One of his first iconic moments back in the first storyline was LITERALLY about him focusing on his inner monologue instead of his annoyed client.
Here, he’s listening to Sweetheart and making room to share his stage. It’s fun seeing how he’s evolved.
It’s actually probably better for Sweetheart that Tip was selfish at first. She needed permission to express herself, and Tip wasn’t going to give it to her without her prompting him first.
But I would read “mani-pedi” as “manicure and/or pedicure”. Yes, I know that technically it’s both, not and/or. But I’ve heard people use “mani-pedi” instead of either “manicure” or “pedicure”. I guess it’s trendy now. So even a human could choose to do only the “mani” half or only the “pedi” half. Obviously, for Sweetheart, both halves would be “pedi”, so the “and/or” is a moot point.
Well, dogs do have both front and back paws, and there back paws are actually kind of different than the back ones, so I think mani-pedi is still close enough.
It would probably be really good for Sweetheart’s mental health if Tip could get her to sit down, be still, and stop worrying about things and focus on self-care long enough for him to give her a mani-pedi, but I bet it would be really hard for her to let go long enough to really enjoy it. Perhaps a bathtub of margaritas would help. OTOH, now is not really a good time for that. Sweetheart really should focus on the “This feels wrong,” thing, because her instincts appear to be right, and it’s probably not a good idea for Tip to distract her right now.
Tip appears to be in a Velma get up. Looks good on him.
What doesn’t?
@woozy That get-up Tip was in when he descended from the flying saucer. In retrospect, that was probably meant to be clue that all was not well here.
Jinkies.
All part of the Tip Effect. Anything Tip wears looks stylish, simply because it’s Tip wearing it.
Looking worryingly cute in panel 3
Good thing he’s got the legs for it.
I do *not* want to tell you what my aging dyslexic eyes misread “mani-pedis” as.
Well, Tip’s getting a little better at this. Still quite a bit of room for improvement, though.
Also, I gather that either no one has checked Chris and Marcie’s hotel room, or their dead or unconscious bodies have been removed from their room.
“How long do we have to stop them?”
“24 minutes”
“How long will the mani-pedis take”
“26 minutes!”
“Tip…”
Fortunately, Tip’s mojo allows them to get 26-minute mani-pedis in the blink of an eye.

Everybody needs a good awoo sometimes
Indeed.

Good start. Now sing, “Awopbopalubop, awopbamboom!”
Sweetheart prefers Gilbert and Sullivan 😉
Excellent callback! I had completely forgotten that one and am a huge G&S fan.
That is almost a swear word used in the “Truk islands” (real place)
You will forgive me if I don’t give the correct spelling.
It’s easy being a dog sometimes.
Their group ends on sour notes. So Tip wants them both to emote. Sweetheart goes “Awooo!” and it felt good, too, a mild how out of her throat.
Is it insensitive to suggest mani-pedis to someone who has four peds but no mans?
It would be insensitive to offer just a manicure.

Sweetheart hasn’t been in for a nailclipping before?
Unity probably just bites her nails for her.
No doubt.
