How can I read Skin Horse now that I’ve been spoiled that there’s mysterious antagonistic forces at work here? Might as well just rip out my heart and just tell me that Mr. Green is everybody’s mom already.
Reading the books did tip me off to some of the continuity connections, but does leave me wondering where they all are now (except Artie, who’s popped up a couple of times).
I believe the closest we’ve gotten to seeing Dave and Helen (other than Helen’s creation Artie) was when the (parrot?) was sent to their home – and the robots opened the package.
It works both ways, too. I also can’t help but wonder where the Skin Horse gang was and what they were up to while all of the struggles between Helen and Lupin Madblood were going on.
Maybe the notion that people screen the weirdness of the world out works on several levels—the Skin Horse gang doesn’t see the mad scientists (other than maybe Doctor Lee and Tigerlily Jones), and they in turn don’t see Skin Horse.
I went back and forth between Saturday and Monday four times, trying to figure it out… I suspected there was a time jump, but I was assuming we were being introduced to some weird time loop / paradox subplot.
That’s the fun thing with Mad Science… any plot hole can be filled in with a little Tachyon Spackle(tm).
Funny to see Canada mentioned in today’s strip, as I’m there now (spent the weekend at TCAF and am now at YYZ awaiting my flight back to the US).
Didn’t have any Molson, but I have purchased a bunch of chocolate to take home (perhaps Shelby had a joke about Canadian Smarties being nothing like American ones?).
Cap’n Bram made intelligent dogs and werewolves, so making intelligent were-trees isn’t that far a stretch. It might have been part of a second wave of his plans to invade the U.S. Searching for dog soldiers, defenders wouldn’t notice the trees around them moving towards them with dangerous intent.
Should I be worried that this scenario came so easily to my mind?
Not really. The idea was already used in “F Troop,” in the “Phantom Major” episode. [There was a marathon…I couldn’t help myself.]
The most suspicious part would be the dogs pointedly NOT doing doglike things to the trees, assuming the dogs and trees were on the same side, or at least had been given the correct signs and countersigns to use with each other.
Earlier, the wrong strip was posted for this day. We at Skin Horse regret the error.

DAMNIT WAY TO SPOIL THE ENTIRE STRIP FOR EVERYONE.
On a related note – has it ever been established what the time differential has been between Narbonic and Skin-Horse?
I’ve been betting on Mr. Green as a male (less successful at escaping the brain transplant) clone of Helen’s Mom. (Or she tried the mints).

But what’s the punishment for such an act of willful insubordination?
Darn. I already wrote my song parody for the week for the other one. I’ll wait till it comes ’round again and repost then.

And where tachyon spackle doesn’t work, you can always resort to quantum duct tape.
You mean we get two original art pieces from you for the “price” of one? Sounds like a net win to me. No need to apologize ^_~

Wait, Sweetheart’s Captain Bram???
There can’t be two Canadian mads with that name.
Or can there…
Plot twist: It’s actually Sweetheart Captain Bram’s nonevil parent/sibling/spouse!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who caught that!
The Next link from yesterday appears to be now horked (electronic-mail-2 vs. electronic-mail-3).
And now it’s fixed! Hurray!
There’s a certain odd symmetry about a creator of super-dogs also creating killer trees.
They both bark, and they may both bite.
I kind of enjoy having them mixed up a bit. It reminds me more of real life.
Jonah Yu agrees, I’m sure.
Atomizer!
ALWAYS a good name…. but it’s usually a fancy spray bottle…

Depends on whether you’ve read Lord of the Rings.
Or Terry Pratchett.
But I think the sentient trees might not be happy with the dogs. You know what dogs do to trees.

DUHNT duhnt duhnt!
Listen: Shaenon Garrity has come unstuck in time…
