The way this is working out Ira wins without needing to fire a shot. 🙂
That said, let’s inject some paranoia fuel into this mix. How many of us would be surprised if this was a bit like C.M. Kornbluth’s The Marching Morons or the old Pied Piper of Hamelin story and Lovetron was actually a hoax by Ira meant to lure all the nonhumans off the Earth and into a death trap? ^_^
Ira basically engineered her escape. If memory serves, he sent Echo to guard her, pretty much assuring her escape. This is why I kind of wonder what his real game is.
I’d put this in the “highly unlikely to nonexistent” category for 3 reasons:
1) It means Gavotte was either a fully complacent construct from day one, or subliminally manipulated before she even made planetfall. Possible, perhaps, but exceedingly unlikely based on what we’ve seen thus far.
2) Ira did not know Pavane (referenced in the post VR hellscape meeting). You could argue that it was faked, but the body language doesn’t suggest that (and neither did the dialog; even in review).
3) While Pavane’s actions serve his purposes *Skin Horse has already fulfilled theirs* giving him full knowledge (and access to) all nonhuman sapients across the country. He has zero reason to keep them around, much less alive somewhere where they could come back more powerful in the future.
3a) As a side note, the point of TLJ was to distract Tip (which she did/ has done/ is doing with varying degrees of success). According to all given rules (that we have right now) *Tip cannot join her on Lovetron* as he (like the teens above) is normal(er than talking dogs and parasitic reverents). That means that Tip would remain in his hair in some capacity, unhelpful to the last, probably joining up in some sort of last- ditch resistance headed by the Dave’s in an effort to overthrow the reality blindness that was irritating their resident mad scientist.
3a.5) Finally, I don’t know if it fits into the story beats right now. Ira had expected full military victory- whether through self-annihilation or drone strikes. He had also “tried all the peaceful options,” and this seems like somthing that would be in the top of the list. Put the trash on the curb for the intergalactic garbage truck to pick it up and take it away? Yes please! Maybe this plan ends with them in the sun, but…
My gut says it isn’t, and I have to much of a gut to ignore it.
Of course, I’m not Shannon (who hates killing off her characters permanently) or Jeff (who my very well love to see the die- idk. Haven’t heard anything from him on that) so my information is…
Inaccurate, perhaps?
Do we know that Mads are (fully) human? Narbonic made it pretty clear that madness is genetic, how do we know that Mads don’t all have some Lovetronian ancestry?
I wonder if ‘your kind’ could be only actually excluding Nora and not Jonah here, with the wiggle room for him having his powers. In which case, you could extrapolate ‘no timeline’ as being cute, since he wouldn’t consider leaving her <3
Yeah, he did specifically say there was “no timeline where WE get on there”; Jonah may not have seen any where he boarded on his own since the idea of leaving Nora would be so foreign to him.
Edit to my text above – her name is Nera, not Nora. Amazing how the human mind (doesn’t) work, I was seeing the prior comment from dragonbagon in my peripheral vision while typing my reply and repeated their typo in my own message. Oops…
What do the Lovetronians do with NHSs that don’t want to come? There’s still going to be some who want to assimilate and others who want to integrate, rather than simply abandon their lives in the name of peace.
Here’s their story, it’s strange but true.
It’s about a girl and guy who knew.
They tangled with the Second Gate
And let the guy prognosticate.
Yeah, we should have guessed it from the very start.
He’s stating facts and no change of heart.
Listen, Nera, what he’s seeing through.
Get the word from precognitive Yu.
You can see adventure hitting you in your face.
You want to go to this mysterious place.
But if you have ever needed a clue.
Get the word from precognitive Yu.
She wants to travel aboard, yeah,
That saucer strikes a geeky chord.
Now, Nera, let him summarize.
Lovetron is not the greatest prize.
There’s not timeline that will let you go.
Stick with the Earth and the Earth you know.
Ask all the gang what they plan to do, they’ll say,
Get the word from precognitive Yu.
—from “Runaround Sue,” written by Dion Di Mucci and Ernie Maresca, sung by Dion.
Tony says that it’s not for her kind. Jonah Yu says not in this timeline. But Nera is bosser to get on that saucer. It’s a geek dream come true and divine!
And the other shoe drops.

-GASP!-
You know, I was thinking of this earlier today. It does seem that convoluted a plan. Mr. Green does seem that way.
Also, and I have been meaning to ask here: If this comic has been following the Oz series, then who is Glenda, The Good Witch of the South?
I don’t remember all that much, but, uh… Gavotte?
Maybe it’s Tip. Ever see the movie “Glen or Glenda?”
(Actually, it’s Glinda.)
I’ve been thinking IRA has a plan B (C? D?) ever since Tigerlily, who was in his custody, appeared
Okay, correction, not in his custody right before the battle, but… you know, months ago
Wait, when was that, exactly? Was it during the current arc?
When we first met Tigerlily, she was an inmate at The Institute, which, as we later learned, is run by Anasigma, i.e. by Ira.
Ira basically engineered her escape. If memory serves, he sent Echo to guard her, pretty much assuring her escape. This is why I kind of wonder what his real game is.
Agreed. Mr. Green needed Project Skinhorse for something…

Not sure what Tony means by “your kind.” Berenice/Tigerlily appears to be human, and she is from Lovetron, and seems to intend to return there.
im almost wondering if the bees are not considering Mads Human in the same way we would, or if theres some other literary idea im missing
Do we know that Mads are (fully) human? Narbonic made it pretty clear that madness is genetic, how do we know that Mads don’t all have some Lovetronian ancestry?
He means, ‘not people.’
Back when Tony and Merc still took Cosmognothics on faith they were using the Groovitron to measure human’s attunement with the Cosmic Jive.
So they likely expected humans to be eligible for Lovitron at that time ..
Some humans at least. Could be that this was their way of seperating the Tigerlilies from the Neras.
Does Nera’s shirt say “I Grok Spock”? Never noticed that before…
Was very big in the early seventies.
Which, Heinlein or Star Trek!
Also is that a real shirt? I covet!
It was a real shirt back in the day.
A quick web search showed several varieties for sale—find a site you like and trust and pick one up.
I wonder if ‘your kind’ could be only actually excluding Nora and not Jonah here, with the wiggle room for him having his powers. In which case, you could extrapolate ‘no timeline’ as being cute, since he wouldn’t consider leaving her <3
That’s the way I chose to interpret it.
Yeah, he did specifically say there was “no timeline where WE get on there”; Jonah may not have seen any where he boarded on his own since the idea of leaving Nora would be so foreign to him.

Is that Gussie from Whimsey’s Little House walking by? Hope she got her vocoder fixed…
Good catch. And Tigerlily is now explained though I had already suspected as much. 🙂
The parade of creatures is somewhat reminiscent of the ending of [SPOILER] Sandman’s “A Game of You”.
Is Berenice/Tigerlily an analog of Alianora, or of the Cuckoo?
Pavane is perhaps an analog of Murphy [Morpheus].
What do the Lovetronians do with NHSs that don’t want to come? There’s still going to be some who want to assimilate and others who want to integrate, rather than simply abandon their lives in the name of peace.
Based on Tigerlily becoming Bernie perhaps they too will be adjusted. Just think of them as The Stepford Refugees. 🙂
Unless all the Mads in the world get on the ship, and it doesn’t look that way so far, won’t they start making more NHSs once the ship is gone?
Depends on how far Anasigma got in dispersing the Cure among the Mad population.
Some escaped. And surely there will be more.
Here’s their story, it’s strange but true.

Excellent work.
I’m probably being paranoid, but does Anasigma have a UFO division?
That’s not paranoia, that’s simply paying attention to events so far.
Tony says that it’s not for her kind. Jonah Yu says not in this timeline. But Nera is bosser to get on that saucer. It’s a geek dream come true and divine!
Honestly, any sentence that includes the phrase “your kind” is…rarely a good sentence. Let ’em fly on the saucer already!
“There’s no timeline where you go to UFO utopia” sounds like a reference to a certain CYOA book with a hidden ending.
Are we going to need to find a hidden comic by putting in a file name, I wonder?
