Hello, replying to this because I JUST realized that this is probably scoring me some homophobe points: I wasn’t saying that it SHOULD, just expressing surprise that it DOESN’T.
Also, it’s clearly not the literal/pejorative thing, as he was censored when saying “Bat out of Hell”, which is also how I knew for sure that that’s what he tried to say (it was pretty obvious but still, certainty’s nice). Which means that it doesn’t see any context, it’s just a list of words that someone compiled and banned him from.
Perhaps the censor function just isn’t that sensitive. If a word has a non-sweary meaning, it lets it through because accidentally letting a swear through is a much smaller boner than inappropriately fingering something PG and exposing yourself as a giant boob. Kinda like how the internet auto-censors still let me ejaculate such words as “damn” and “bastard” during intercourse without being molested.
It’s probably just a question of what the person who wrote the filter thought ought to be filtered. Different people have different ideas on the relative ‘badness’ of various swear words.
Hmm, considering that Nick seems to be a little jealous of Sergio being with Dr. Lee I’d almost think he’d want Tip to distract him. Unless Nick’s main concern is distrust of Violet.
As far as my brain’s concerned, Sergio’s will always be a skinny little kid in a Don Quixote costume, researching playground chants and doing awesome things with Popsicle sticks. I am not sure how I feel about Tip trying to hit that.
Just been reading through the archives and a thought occured. Since I am new to the comments I don’t know if anyone had said it before but could Violet Bee be a machine controlled internally by a swarm of bees with that swarm of bees, a pavane, being the daughter of Gavotte. She could also be Goldbug because isn’t a bee a ‘gold bug’
Does Tip’s superpower work on people of other orientations? I suppose it DID work on Gerda who was a self-professed Kinsey-Seven lesbian.
But he’s never affected anyone else other then women (intentionally at least). So can he actually direct it at people? Or does he have to do something that can be construed as sexy for it take affect on the more, shall we say, difficult targets (Such as taking his shirt off and mud-wrestling Konstantin).
Definitely ‘bi’ rather than ‘gay’; but hell yeah, Tip’s sexy. And I’d dearly love to see Dr. Lee’s reaction to Tip hitting on both of ’em at the same time.
Fluffernutters and petits fours? I love theme censoring.
Now I’m all hungry.
At least Nick didn’t mention Tip’s Fig Newtons.
Technically hasn’t Tip gone Bi instead of Gay? I thought he still did like the ladies in addition to the hunks.
He has yes. Did you expect NICK of all people to sweat the details?
Though now that you’ve drawn attention to it, how come his censorship lets him say “gay”? It didn’t even let him go with “hell”.
Maybe because he’s using it literally rather than pejoratively?
As in, “That movie about the gay cowboys was totally /*glazed*/.
Well, Nick didn’t mean that Tip is happy and carefree (though he is both). Nick used “gay” connotatively rather than denotatively.
i kinda think that it’s denotative in this usage as well, but in any case it isn’t obscene, & wouldn’t trigger the swearyfilter.

Which ties back to my original surprise.

It censored out “Hell”. That is PG at the very most.

Nick seems to have his priorities straight. Threats to his comrades first, threats to his romantic life second.

tip was probably a skinny little kid playing with his mom’s high heels at the same time 🙂

i think at one point in little m,ell it was decided that future sergio was gay, or bi.
so tip could work this out
Not decided. Screamed. At his father. In spanish.
Oh, and it was bisexual vegan atheist, IIRC.
Hells, I think Tip’s sexy, and I’m a 3D person while he’s ink on a piece of paper. So, yeah, his superpower works with difficult targets.
Tip/Sergio = my latest OTP. I am going down with this ship, people! No regrets!

I’d dearly love to see it too.
…because I think it’d be “Yes, please.”
