The enemy is Anasigma. Phase one was deploying the Crown. Phase two is isolating the various pockets of non-human sentients. Phase three . . . , nothing good, that’s for certain.
A: A-Sig got the mind control software from Whimsy, not the VR. That was given to Baron Mistycorn as a parting gift.
B: “Lotus Eater”? You keep using that word… I do not think it means what you think it means.
To be fair, Tip didn’t say the wildfire ITSELF was in the sewer. Just that it was threatening the SWAMP in the sewer. Could be just a regular Cali wildfire, or it could be a distraction, like the one in New Orleans when Grandma Swamp was abducted.
What makes you think that? Tip’s comment seems to imply that he does something every Thanksgiving that he finds stressful. It is highly probable that the something stressful involves visiting family, since that’s what many Americans do at Thanksgiving. I assume if they didn’t want him to visit, he would not be invited, ergo, Tip is the one who would prefer not to visit, but feels obligated to do so.
At least, we currently are leaving Mustachio (& Hitty) at Annex-One, and now Sweetheart (& Unity? Unless she’s going to Colma because fires-need-more-people, and also zombies) in Alaska/Yukon, …
I’m guessing if we split down to ones, Unity stays in Colma, and then we get a double-emergency making
Nick go to Whimsy (for Aimee?),
and then we follow Tip into the second half of this plotline.
Alternatively, this is getting Tip and Nick out of the way, and this plotline is about Sweetheart and Unity (and foiling off Sweetheart’s “oh-wait-I’m-a-lesbian-actually” ex).
So, at first I saw this as the villains splitting the party so each of them can have his-or-her own Grand Showdown… and then I thought that, actually, no, this is probably the penultimate bit. Here, each of them (who is developed enough for it and hasn’t done it yet) faces their own serious personal antagonists, before uniting, their souls cleansed, for the final showdown with the main villain. And then I was wondering who Tip and Nick will fight. Didn’t we conclude that Violet Bee *was* Mr. Green? Is there a super-supervillain behind him? Pavane?
But I’d thought that “The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” was the end of act 2, ‘darkest hour’ moment. And if that’s true we’re into the final act, and ought to be near the end. But we know hardly anything about Pavane… so, really, I don’t know what’s happening at this point.
You may be reaching a bit. Not that I wouldn’t like to see her get into the action again, but she’s only put out one fire. That may be one more fire than any of the rest of them has ever put out, but I wouldn’t call it “expertise”.
Nick is far better equipped to fight a fire of this scale, since he can carry and dump the water buckets they use for fighting wildfires.
How does that work exactly? I’ll admit I’m not an expert on wildfires, but I was under the impression that sewers were usually made of concrete, which tends to be fireproof.
The flames themselves wouldn’t affect the sewers (not without some help, anyway), but the intense heat from the fire could still bake anything down there.
Once is chance
Twice is coincidence
Thrice is fate
Four is lead pipe clincher
Once is happenstance
Twice is coincidence
Three times is enemy action – but who’s the enemy?
One for the money,
Two for the show,
Three to get ready,
And four to go!
Yeah, I know it has nothing to do with anything…
Or DOES it?
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Fool me thrice, dang, you’re good at this!
One-two-three-FOUR!
The enemy is Anasigma. Phase one was deploying the Crown. Phase two is isolating the various pockets of non-human sentients. Phase three . . . , nothing good, that’s for certain.
You and me both, Tip.
Many of us agree.
I’m calling it, they’re stuck in some sort of Lotus Eater machine, probably the VR A-Sig got from Whimsy.
What, again?
A: A-Sig got the mind control software from Whimsy, not the VR. That was given to Baron Mistycorn as a parting gift.
B: “Lotus Eater”? You keep using that word… I do not think it means what you think it means.
Yeah: a lotus eater machine would be one that creates an illusion so pleasant you don’t want to leave. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LotusEaterMachine
If this is a simulation, it’s an unpleasant one.
You mean like one where each of them gets to save their respective family or friends? There’s more than one way to keep people occupied…
…how does a wildfire get into a sewer?
swamp gas? Oh, no; sorry, that was just me; beans last night.
A running joke.
Oh no, better go catch it!
To be fair, Tip didn’t say the wildfire ITSELF was in the sewer. Just that it was threatening the SWAMP in the sewer. Could be just a regular Cali wildfire, or it could be a distraction, like the one in New Orleans when Grandma Swamp was abducted.
Or it could be a sentient wildfire that wants all that sweet sweet swamp gas.
Wildfires destabilize soil and reduce its absorbancy, leading to everything from mudslides to floods to increased turbidity in waterways.
Then it’s a good thing Tip’s family doesn’t want him to come home.
I never thought of Tip having close family- what’d his Origin Story say?- but now that we know they’re there… a reunion is requested!
Tip hasn’t been given an origin story, other than what’s in the filename story. Jeff and Shaenon know what it is, but they’re not telling. Yet.
What makes you think that? Tip’s comment seems to imply that he does something every Thanksgiving that he finds stressful. I smell a diversion…
They would be wise to send Unity. She and the swamp have a unique relationship.
You might just be smelling Dr. Steve’s beans.
😉
They would be doubly wise to send Unity, so she won’t be a distraction for Sweetheart up in Paradise.
You don’t think the pack would razz her if her girlfriend ran out on her?
I think razzing is inevitable no matter what they do.
I think the pack couldn’t care less.
Are you ready to SP- SP- SP- SPLIT THE PARTY!!
At least, we currently are leaving Mustachio (& Hitty) at Annex-One, and now Sweetheart (& Unity? Unless she’s going to Colma because fires-need-more-people, and also zombies) in Alaska/Yukon, …

(Or I’m just… wrong.)

It’s Bubbles that has the fire-putter-outer expertise.
