@ DarkStarling and woozy,
“sheโs simultaneously a self-righteous jerk.”
So? Why should she be any different from anyone else at Skin Horse in that regard? We like them in spite of it, no? ^_^
If sticking a human being in a human body is the absolute worst thing Panoptica has ever done with her life then I think she’s led a pretty blameless existence. ๐
Nick is a helicopter so being stuck in a human body is not being a human stuck in a human body. You’re probably human so how would you like it if someone stuck YOU in a totally different body?
“…so how would you like it if someone stuck YOU in a totally different body?”
I’d shrug and just keep on going. But I suspect that’s because SF fans look at life a bit differently then Mundanes do. @_@
And Nick is not a helicopter. He is, at most, a full-conversion borg who likes being a full-conversion borg. And since brain-washing is at the root of such a liking I hardly blame Panoptica for wanting to break that brainwashing so that Nick has Free Will. ๐
He identifies as a helicopter. That’s why he was eligible for help from skin horse. Treating him as anything other than a helicopter is disrespecting that identity.
I feel compelled to point out that “sticking a human being in a human body” is something that literally every parent has done. Certain obstetrics do it quite frequently.
Just because Panoptica is female, has sensible hairstyle and has a vocabulary with a few three-syllable words, doesn’t mean she isn’t an officious tool. I think she’s right where she belongs.
Criptid: In pseudoscience, a cryptid (from the Greek ฮบฯฯฯฯฯ, krypto, meaning “hide”) is an animal or plant whose existence has been suggested but has not been discovered or documented by the scientific community.
Thanks Shaenon and Jeff for yet another few minutes expanding my vocabulary.
Can’t Nick just tip this guy out of the plane… (I’m sure Tip would help…)
I’ve a premonition that irritating any telepath can be it’s own reward without any action from Nick. ^_~
I’ve a feeling Panoptica is wasted on these guys. Perhaps Skin Horse could use a superhero liaison? o_O
While this may be true, she’s simultaneously a self-righteous jerk. Sticking Nick in a human body for conferences for goodness sake?

He’s not a human being. He’s a human-born helicopter.

Then there’s this guy, too…
I read this shortly after waking up, and in my grogginess I thought he had a spikey, 3-eyed monster happily asleep on his right shoulder.
It’s the donuts’ version of a coffee mug.
Remember, preceding outrageous sexism with “What ho!” makes it Olde Worlde Charm.
I’d say Nick has way too much experience in porcine transport already.

Being stoat is no fun. “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled mustelids yearning to breathe free.”
Putting my song parody on hold again; computer problems [again]. I think my main tower thing is done for; updating to Windows 10 was so not worth it.
Oh, so many punchlines, so little time.
Okay, so remind me again… why do they have superheroes doing unconfirmed animal control?
