Actually, thinking it over, her net research and hacking skills could put her on to any superhero team that doesn’t maintain a “mutants only” policy on the same basis that the current Barbara Gordon operates depending on just how good she really is. ^_^
AG-I already have someone who knows how to use Cerebriac. Not well enough to delete the accounts of former staff, but well enough to spot some of what they’re doing with it. http://skin-horse.com/comic/and-me-out/
What if it’s Nera that provides a grounded quantum reality reference point for Jonah’s precog power to work at all, and without Nera, the precog is useless, and effectively free-floating?
Semi-obscure anime/manga reference (semi-obscure because some people aren’t into anime/manga… strange but true). Only makes any sense if you’ve read or watched Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya.
For a straight superhero example, when Wally West was the Flash he could freely travel into the Speed Force and through time and the multiverse because his wife, Linda Park, acted as an anchor for him to find his way home.
Hooboy… Just imagining Jonah’s reaction to THAT is kind of cataclysmic on its own. He deliberately died several times that we know about just so he could live in the same present as Nera; I think his brain couldn’t even start *processing* the idea of her being his sidekick (especially since he’s bound to know that ‘sidekick’ has a direct translation of ‘short-lived substitute target.’)
Only if your principle superhero is Batman. And even most of his Robins usually did a lot better then that. These days sidekicks are usually apprentice superheroes but Hawkgirl was a sidekick to Hawkman with good results and Stripesy was a good sidekick to “The Star Spangled Kid”. ^_^
But yeah! Panoptica isn’t being a jerk for telling him that since combat can be pretty rough on those who can’t keep up. Jonah himself would probably be in the “sidekick who always needs rescuing” category himself.
Apologies to Paper Lace (UK) and Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods (US):
Nera could be a hero,
With her Badass Normal skill.
Nera could be a hero,
And Jonah hopes that she will.
But if Nera won’t get to go,
Then Jonah will just tell them no,
Nera can’t be a hero,
Neither will he.
Y’know, I was still kinda hoping Nera would persuade him to go to college…and now Panoptica wants him to play for the AG-I team. It’ll be as bad as Lebron James.
One way to punish the person who brought such a suit would be to say, “OK, then! If that’s the way you feel then you can come on our missions after all!” since the reason to leave the normal at home in the first place is that these things are lethal to normal people who are almost always a lot squishier and easier to kill then the superheroes. Just let nature take it’s course and the annoying person who brought that lawsuit is on his way to the Afterlife. 😛
Keeping Jonah Yu out of trouble must be close to a superpower…

That or she can show that she knows how to work a computer. Their current expert just hits the computers after all.

But that could have been Electron Boy, and they lost him to Google.

You might be on to something there.
Like how archer/shirou can only make the jewel sword: kaleidoscope with the aid of Illyasviel von Einzbern
What?
Also What?

LET NERA BE A HERO
Nera could be such a he-ro
Helping Jona find his way home
All they want is life beyond the A, G, I
(sorry Tina)

So he’s still stoaked but less than before yes?
Sort of a state of semi-stokedness.
The difference between “stoked” and “less stoked”….

I should be that bad!
Maybe AG-I could do a tuition-assistance thing like the US Army does, and he could work for them and go to college.
Apparently the AG-1 is actually the Just-Us League.
Several million points for style!
OOOH…. Okay, you win today’s puntathalon, no doubt about it.
Be a terrific discrimination suit someday…

Still continue to be unimpressed with Panoptica.
