Well, if it’s a parallel to Disney, then consider that the late 90s included the remakes of Flubber, That Darn Cat, The Parent Trap, 101 Dalmatians, My Favorite Martian, Inspector Gadget and Mighty Joe Young.
Envy the dead is not far wrong, if you assume that the dead didn’t have to watch those.
Well, yeah, but animation-wise, it wasn’t too bad. Hercules was released in 1997, Mulan in 1998… Disney’s traditional animation didn’t really hit its nadir until the early-to-mid-2000’s, really.
Let’s not forget Gargoyles was also made by Disney and aired on ABC in the mid ’90s. (And it was glorious.) Disney did make some half-hearted effort to compete within the other more dramatic children’s or “young adult” entertainment at the time, even if they found themselves sorely behind the curve.
So I know a number of people have been discussing this, but who else is really hoping Nick views Aimee as his daughter instead of as a love interest?
I want to see him trying to be the mature one in a relationship, I want to see a Black Ops Bat Mitzvah, and I really want to see Nick’s daughter being more chill about ‘Dad’s Girlfriend’ than either Nick or Dr. Lee have ever been.
Campy Sixties series? Awright, who *else* is picturing the Nickmobile? (Hopefully the Boss, in need of Sunday ideas… Baron would make a great Robin- the comic book one, not the Boss’s son…)
Primitive post-apocalyptic warrior/scavenger, appropriate for the terrain. Mistycorn will appear looking like some sort of nuclear mutant, while Nick is going to end up looking like something from Mad Max (taking pictures so he can get it done IRL).
Poke a Lovelace
I guess Whimsey also went through a “Dark Cauldron” phase, huh?
Black Cauldron was in the 80s. Late 90s is… you know? late 90s IRL was stragely upbeat

Double-envy me, then – I lived AND didn’t watch any of those.
I’m thinking it’s the equivalent of the American dub of Princess Mononoke, done in 97 by Miramax when they were owned by Disney.

Postapocalyptic Warrior Queen Lovelace?
Oh yeah, I am all in on this one.
Yep. We could use a few Fan pictures of this.
Well, someone left the emo tap running.
SOMETHING had to get us through those days.
I’m wondering if he can curse normally in there.
So that’s what happens when the dial hits twelve?
I wondered.
No, Whimsyworld was designed to be like this. Nick never got as far as Candy Island, so he wasn’t able to enjoy the full Whimsy experience.
Oh, so that’s where all those infinite birds went

Actually, I’ve always taken Nick to be Reform.
Reform Jews invented the Bat Mitzvah.
It’s the Orthodox who, for years, didn’t allow girls to read Torah or count in a minyan. Some still don’t.
Well, Nick does have a mezuzah mounted on his door frame…I don’t know whether that’s Orthodox, Conservative, or Reform…
It’s cultural.
As a conservative jew who has has been to a reform day school and an orthodox day school
We all have bnai mitzvah (technically, reaching the age of 13 makes you bnai mitzvah), we use mezuzah
I’m ready for anything Jeffrey and Shaenon decide to throw at us.
Never, *ever*, say that!
I guess they want to stay as far away from the campy sixties series as possible.
SHHhhh… thoughts like that could lead to a VR tour of the decades. And we don’t want to even get close to the 70s!
True. We don’t have Tigerlily along.
It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears…
1860’s? How far back would VR tour of the decades go?
I still have those ads ringing in my ears going “It’s a jazzy edition to your home video collection! Don’t miss out!”

“..envy..the..dead..” My new favorite motto!
Boop on through to the other side!
You know the day destroys the night, night destroys the day.
Lookit all dead tweets!
Your avatar is entirely appropriate here. ^w^
By the bye, what is this outfit Lovelace wearing now?
Regrettably opaque?

Maybe Aimee has been breaking things.
Oh, I’ve played this New Vegas mod.
