That raises an interesting question about how divergent timelines would work in a universe where traveling to and interacting directly with another universe is a major historical event with far-reaching consequences on both worlds. Do both universes diverge together, or separately?
I’d say that they never really diverge, since time is kind of meaningless from a conceptual out-of-universe standpoint, what with time being a property of a universe, and as result the universes in question essentially already existed (and never existed before this point, still don’t and weirder stuff). Looking at it like this allows you to kind of skip that weirdness.
Unless this proves to be Nick(?) with a genuinely helpful personality instead of (so far) no personality, it is Skin Horse’s job to liberate the repressed sentient being, and it will happen somehow, because this isn’t “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”
For me, sad Unity is funny. Boring Nick is just boring, though. Although he may fit better in a world where he can’t move without asking for permission first.
I don’t think that’s necessary. If Goldbug didn’t interrupt the simulation, then Nick wouldn’t have a personality anymore. That sounds way more likely to me.
You know, if Nick is not in the whirliwig, then it is possible he is….elsewhere. Just saying, giant robots controlled by brains has happened before in this series!
My theory is that Nick is still in there somewhere, but at some point he went on a cursing binge of heroic proportions and his swear filter just locked out his speech functions indefinitely and communicates for him via an encyclopedic database.
oh, well thats disconcerting
Sigh, looks like our precious Nick has been brainwashed into being helpful.
Or else the “In this universe it’s Ginny who got borged!” theory has just received a boost. >_>
Remember how they said Nick has an override code? This might be the result 🙁
Fun fact: in 60% of the worlds where the Skin Horse team fails, the end result looks like Mortasheen, but with easier teleportation.

Oops, completely off-topic for the thread, sorry about that.
“Help, help, I’m being repressed!”
Sad Unity is sad.
“Sad Unity in hangar”
Sad Prodigal is also sad.

Was Thor only 112 minutes?
It’s the sequel she’s asking about. And IMDB states 112 min. The first one was 3 minutes longer
“Non-functional five billion dollar paperweight.”
Was that the phrasing in the original story? About what would happen if they took out Nick’s brain and replaced it in Project Whirligig with a robot?
I think they did that here.

Now I miss real Nick. Which is baffling; if I actually knew the guy I wouldn’t be able to stand him.
I know right? Or rather, I’d never have gotten to know him well enough to like him.
Loki Wankbait – phrases like that make my whole body smile.
To be fair, Tom Hiddleston himself tends to have the same effect on most people.
Oh Crumbs! They gave Nick a lobotomy!
No Goldbug intervention?
T.T

*gasp* maybe he had a girlfriend in this timeline! …which would mean she killed him horribly when the rage plague came
Nick with a girlfriend? Even Fearless Leader’s imagination has limits…
Could be further than that. Maybe he’s got a wife.
What if Dr Lee was the girlfriend? When the rage plague hit she got angry and said the override because it was the worst thing she could do.
Somewhere out there could be a giant robot hopping around… funding ran out before -1Foot’s second foot could be completed…
Now I’m alarmed.
Thufferin’ thuccotath, he’s not thor about it!
Worse than bein’ a cussin’ cousin
he’s a wonky wiki
Well, the rage plague was more recent than 2013, since Thor 2 is an item.
Whirligig hasn’t said anything that proves that there wasn’t any hasty recasting from the surviving population involved….
So Thor was just a woman in the movies in addition to the comics?
Thor is a woman in the comics now? Thought it was just his hair…
I believe there’s a woman wielding Mjonir, now, which isn’t quite the same thing.
I’m amused by Dr. Walske’s abstract grasp of the concept of humor.
Verrry abstract. To the point of complete incomprehensibility.
what if dr lee is not a woman in this timeline and a male dr lee got fed up with nick and his personality and just overode it?
