I do feel like Tip has been comfortable in being her and acknowledging her….her-ness, for a long time. Things are changing, that’s what I think is going on.
Tip is a true pansexual. He once considered having sex with a “shapeless protoplasmic ur-entity”. But I think Ed was assuming Tip is trans (which I don’t think he is).
All we can say for sure is that we’ve never seen Tip express a desire to use female pronouns, and that he’s given thought to his gender identity (from as early as the file name story, taking place shortly before his joining skin horse : “He wasn’t sure about being a woman. He wasn’t sure about being a man, either, which was the whole problem.”)
I think it’s safe to assume Tip is okay with male pronouns, at least for now.
… calling Tip “her” isn’t calling him gay. Not nearly the same.
They’re wrong, and Tip goes by male pronouns so far, but you corrected their mistake with another mistake XD
I can see Nick’s point here. Tip sounds like he’s about to take the recent good things in Nick’s life and use them to make the conversation all about him (Tip). While in character, it would be annoying to listen to.
I have a question: Tip has a pistol out and looking for any trouble. He is trained and competent. But what about Nick? In his meatsuit, Nick is not only unarmed but has no capacity to defend himself. What was the logic there?
“Oh, wheel of fortune / Please don’t pass me by / Let me know the magic of / A kiss and a sigh…”
Stunning self awareness from Tip

Tip isn’t gay (well, maybe bi), he’s just a crossdresser.

Tip is the love child of Captain Jack Harkness and Doctor Lilith Sternin. It’s hilarious that he’s going to Nick for advice.
