And I think it’s gonna be a long, long time
‘Till touchdown brings me back around to find
I’ve not got loogies like they’ve got back home
Oh, no, no, no…
I got rocket spit
~Rocket Spit~!
Burning through concrete and sand and loam!
For good or ill, reality never seems to manage to match one’s expectations. In a realm of Mad Science, this goes double. Tigerlily is comfortable with this, because most of the time she makes things slightly better than she expects.
Yes, well, I know that’s what palenoue was actually referring to. Perhaps one day the people of your world will discover sarcasm, and then my comment will make sense to you.
Unfortunately the problem of sarcasm in print is that one is never quite sure the attempt is not cluelessness in earnest.
I should know. It’s how I ruined a perfectly good relationship through the mail.
I think Tip’s problem is that unlike with every sexual fling he’s had in his rather sordid past, he is now really and truly in love. He’s terrified of screwing things up, which makes him terrified to move ahead. If he would just admit that that is what he’s afraid of, they could move past it rather quickly, complete with fireworks and music.
“You wanted it, I wanted it, doing it is perfectly logical. Maybe one day I’ll understand why that makes me the one who’s nuts”
(With apologies to Dr. Bowman)
Technically, Tippie never claimed to be normal, he just wanted what ‘normal’ people get when they fall in love (or at least, how he believes it happens for normo’s)
HE’S quite aware of her sexual power. AT this point, he’s gotten greedy, or as some would say, has ‘fallen in love’…ie, he wants to POSSES Tigerlilly. He’s gone past “Let’s see if it feels good, and maybe we can find some pleasure here”, state of mind. Now he’s got his MIND and power-drives involved, and he even wanted to plan this ‘conquest’ out. Too much thinking involved.
Personally, I notice that I’ve too much going on in my (top) head and it gets in the way of actual involvement. I see that with him now. On the other hand, I got in a lot of minor trouble the other way, too. Damned if you do.ETC>
rocket spit seems like it should be a unity power.
‘Unno, Tigerlily should probably qualify as an expert on rocket spit.
Unity’s power is more along the lines of “rocket fists”
It sure is taking awhile for them to actually do it. Also, Rocket Spit?
“Rocket Spit” was the B-side of Elton John’s “Rocket Man”.
No, it wasn’t, it was “Susie (Dramas),” at least in the USA…
Maybe in *our* universe it was.
Well, so far, we have shadow government agencies and a shadow big corporation. How ’bout shadow record companies?
With songs like Maggot Brain to their credit, Rocket Spit could easily be a Funkadelic classic.

Is it possible that the issue Tip isn’t addressing is that he isn’t in a dress for this undressing?
Not forgetting stubbly, maybe unbathed, and less than elegant?
Did I just hear someone say “make over”?
Except usually he’d be the one *giving* the makeover.
“Normal” Tiger Lilly has Tip’s number on that one!
For good or ill, reality never seems to manage to match one’s expectations. In a realm of Mad Science, this goes double. Tigerlily is comfortable with this, because most of the time she makes things slightly better than she expects.
Didn’t Tip get enough of that with Tony and Mercutio?
And we now have a one-sentence description of Skin Horse fans that can be used in everyday conversations.
And would that one sentence be “Agh, I don’t know” or “This isn’t what I pictured”?
My vote would be for “Agh, I don’t know.” 😉
I’m voting for “You’re not within spitting distance of normal, even with rocket spit.”

“Arg, I don’t know” is how you tell a true fan from a poseur. True fans _always_ know!
“Arg, I don’t know” is how others describe us 😀

“Tomcat in love”? Maybe… but more fundamentally, he used to be in control of these situations, or at least his mojo was. Now, not so much.
There is also the problem that his being in love is – pardon the pun – virgin territory. He doesn’t know what he’s doing.
Tip is a romantic at heart, and he’s put Tigerlilly on a pedestal. She’s going to have to reach down and pull him up beside her…
I am now officially ready to buy the book – “The Quotable Dr. Jones”
Not that Jones, the other Jones!
Junior, senior, or Ms. above?

i think he’s stalling because *she’s* not in love.
