This strip reminds me of the horror I felt upon the 20th anniversary of A New Hope (Star Wars IV) and I realised that there were people of voting age who were born *after* the movie was released!
And now that the 35th anniversary has passed, they have children about old enough to vote. You’re OLD! AARP is just around the corner! Muwahahahahahaha!
I’m starting to get pretty sick of Bee. If she want’s to oppress non-humans simply because they might do something dangerous, then she needs to throw herself onto that boat. She’s a machine. She can probably crush Tip’s neck with little to no effort and shrug off some bullets. If non-humans really do need to be oppressed and controlled, then as a non-human she belongs behind those bars.
Actually, weirdly enough, Violet Bee /isn’t/, by her – or rather his – own admittance, a machine, or even a non-human. I’m guessing that the shell he’s in is a remote receiver, and his body is stored somewhere in Anasigma Black Ops while it’s not being directly used. One curious side effect there is that GODOT can’t access his brainwaves, thus preventing him from seeing the writing on the wall.
I further hypothesize that when we later see what Gold Bug /really/ looks like, it’ll be something like Doctor Lee’s avatar at the start of ‘I Can Fly’.
I’m thinking its not just the 18 year olds that are scary – the last two presidential election cycles have definitively shown that most of the country is either ignorant buffoons, inbred bumpkins, or both.
Most of the media coverage seemed to be fluff pieces – hardly anything of substance being discussed. Alot like going “oh no – the house is burning – what style of uniforms should the firemen wear?”
Lots of agreement on most points, but getting worked up about the incidentals that don’t matter.
If it’s any consolation, things are nearly as bad on this side of the Atlantic. You might have us slightly beat on the number of nationwide trigger issues, but at least you usually seem able to tell the difference between the Party, the Leader (President/Prime Minister), and the actual candidates standing in your constituency/district.
Oh, the zombies are truly frightening,
But their thoughts are quite enlightening …
Though their groaning’s a mournful note,
Let ’em vote! Let ’em vote! Let ’em vote!
Yes, their energies they’re applying,
As for suffrage they are vying!
Though the chances are quite remote,
Let ’em vote! Let ’em vote! Let ’em vote!
Though articulate they are not,
They’re the most dedicated I’ve seen!
And because of the Zombie Rot,
You can bet they’re voting Green!
In the past we’ve had laws determined
By the likes of Helms and Thurmond …
For the zombie, I’m saying, quote,
“Let ’em vote! Let ’em vote! Let ’em vote!
Let ’em vote!
Let ’em vote!
Let ’em vote!
(unquote)
I just realized that this means there really /is/ a sinister human conspiracy, if Violet is telling the truth. I bet H.T. doesn’t seem so paranoid now, does he?
Destroy? In case it hasn’t entered their minds already, I’m telling Jeffrey and Shaenon that the best ending is *shipping* H.T./Violet at the end of the strip.
Inflicting domesticity on each other instead of participating in great political causes, seeing their worldviews crumble before an onslaught of unnatural urges and severely confused hormones, this is the proper retribution they each deserve.
Besides, battle androids and tigers need sturdy sex partners each. It just makes sense.
HT’s problem isn’t paranoia. Of course there’s bigoted humans. HT is just using that as an excuse to rationalize his own bigotry, rather than work to move society as a whole forward.
The more Violet insists she’s human, the less I believe she is, even slightly. The only problem is that they already did that joke. But what if it’s the same joke? Maybe CONCLUSION REDACTED JUST IN CASE IT’S TRUE.
Reredaction: hypothesis of mine appears to violate the timeline, so not likely. I hereby award myself the SILVER STAR OF PARTICIPATION for failure to solve the mystery, and I renounce further attempts to spoil the plot.
Empreror of Necropolis? So that’s what happened to Napoleon.

Thank you ever so much for the reminder that “Lastday” for me was almost 16 years ago… XP
Oh hey, that’s me!
And how I felt this year, on realizing that there will be voters in the upcoming presidential election who are too young to remember 9/11.
How to make people feel old.

It’s not most of the country, it’s only 47%.
Or self righteous elitists. Heh. See what I did there? Polotiks is grate fun, ya’ll!
Not being american and hardly caring about your presidential elections, I musty say it doesn’t matter who they voted for, but why.

How seasonal.
“Zombie Queen Elena” (Zombi Oujo-sama Erena) sounds like either really good or really awful manga.
I just realized that this means there really /is/ a sinister human conspiracy, if Violet is telling the truth. I bet H.T. doesn’t seem so paranoid now, does he?
Maybe H.T. and Violet can destroy each other.
I was hoping that someone would come to (and vocalize, so I can gloat over it) this realization.

The average person is extremely stupid, this is brought up in arguments for dictatorship but they’re people to, ergo: stupid
Oh, this storyline has aged well.
