In panel 2, she does not yet have the information provided by the robot plane in panel 3. It’s only then that she realizes that they don’t have that month to prepare.
When last seen, the Biomass was H. T. and Dr. Taintor. And Anasigma was sending Echo Bravo and Alfa Alfa. Unless either group has picked up more support, it doesn’t seem like Sweetheart and the others are outnumbered.
At least, HT can swallow ONE atom bomb… after he’s absorbed at least one major city.
Could he do it again if he hasn’t eaten Louisville, Nashville, St.Louis, and Cincinnati?
(I’m sure somebody here remembers the song ‘The Cockroach That Ate Cincinnati’.)
It’s doubtful that AA and EB requested any reinforcements, since their boyfriend is on our side. If anything, they would defect, and Ira would have to send real troops.
@ Robert,
The problem here is fog of war. Enemies always seem more formidable than they really are and since war is a morale game this sometimes matters. 🙂
… Anasigma’s HQed in DC, if they had missions in the field, they would’ve been either after the biomass (which was in PA last we saw) or already in KS. How come that AS and HT are now approaching our heroes from OPPOSITE directions!?
“Sometimes”? I once flew from Detroit to West Palm Beach, FL. We had a layover (we didn’t even get off the plane) in Baltimore, MD! And that was mild compared to some of the bizarre flight paths I’ve heard others talk about.
I was flying from Los Angeles to Orlando once and was offered a flight with a SIXTEEN hour layover in PHILADAELPHIA! Sixteen hours in Philly? That’s cruel AND unusual.
… wouldn’t Anasigma be prone to operate their OWN flights, at least when they want troops with all the novelty weaponry they now possess hauled around?
They’re building a force that’s defensive. But Sweetheart is still apprehensive. A-Sig is southwest, and H. T.’s the rest. It’s bound to be found too offensive.
“Why do they call it sitting pretty?”
“Eh, it’s a dog thing
I must say that I don’t understand how she thought that she’d have a month to prepare.
I think it’s more along the lines of
“IF we have a month to organize and train…”
and hoping, rather than assuming, that they HAVE that much time.

OTOH, HT can swallow atom bombs.
“I have an army.”
“We have a Hulk.”

More like “The Eggplant that Ate Chicago”…
It is possible that the two agents requested extra manpower, and H.T.wouldn’t pass the opportunity to add to the Biomass along the way.

Aw, I want a tiny robot airplane!
It’s the “putt…putt…putt” that really sells it.
At this point it’s not even air moral support. How far out is Nick?
I’d say she’s referring to the tiny robot airplane in panel 3.
They also have two dragons.
I was too. That’s why I was asking for Nick.
Well, he has taken a couple of unusual jobs. And then there’s Dr. Lee…

It’s that left turn at Albuquerque. It gets you everytime.
As long as the answer’s not “hey, your two mortal enemies are COOPERATING now” …
Fortunately for our heroes, Anasigma is grossly inept.
Sometimes you can’t get a direct flight?

Utterly nonsensive. Well done.
