My favorite show of overriding the No Shoes rule was Kill Bill 2 with The Bride storming out of the graveyard, into the all-night diner, asking for water. She was wearing a jacket, so not shirtless.
If it’s the VR environment it can’t do him much harm either. Perhaps it’s a sign that he’s altered things to the image he prefers and is already starting to exert control? o_O
Oops… missed that someone else already commented on it. ๐
A few strips back I noticed a dripping effect from the casing. Seems odd to me that DARPA grade stuff like that would just start melting off once rescued….
I wish Virgie hade hit Ira(the GreatGreenWeen) harder and more often, but now, unless she got rid of it, she’s armed with his pistol, the guards will be more circumspect; she has Gavotte, and just may be in the very spot to be ‘picked up ‘ by the next bus to Lovetron. What’s not to like?
Modern armaments technologies can include biometric and/or token-based (eg, ring or amulet with RFID or similar) activation, and/or embedded tracking technology.
By using the gun as a blunt object and getting rid of it as soon as possible afterwards (down a nearby sewer intake?), Dr. Lee neatly avoids having to deal with the very real possibility that Mr. Green had a gun that used one or more of the above technologies, or something similar. Or something worse (doesn’t just not fire if firing is attempted by someone not the owner, but actually explodes or sprays/injects toxins).
She has been living in America for quite some time, so it’s only reasonable that the dialects would get blurred. I have a few English friends who have only been in America for a couple years, and their language has become much more American sounding than Gavotte’s is (in fact, I have never been to Great Britain, and I tend to speak more like an Englishman than they do).
I know “humbug” is a word in more general use (at least historically — there’s a great song “You’re Nothing But a Humbug” which seems to be a shanty-ish precursor to “Hound Dog”) but it has a very strong Wizard of Oz association, doesn’t it?
It is entirely possible in this universe that DARPA grade preservative plus raw organic slurry plus Nick’s cybernetics means that a mutation has occurred and he will now start growing his own (Toxic Avenger-esque) body to roam around in.
Dammit, Gavotte.
Gavotte is not the Glinda Ginny wanted. But she is the Glinda that Ginny and the rest of Skin Horse deserve. ^_^
Well, looks like Virginia can’t click her shoes together and say “There’s no place like home.” No shoes.
Yeah. I guess she’ll have to go claim them off a Wicked Witch somewhere. Good thing she still has a shirt or else she’d have no service. ^_~
Not to worry. That rule is frequently overlooked when the shirtless person is a beautiful woman.

Is Nick out of his gel casing?!
Apparently. That can’t be good!

These woods look kinda familiar.
Whose woods these are I think I know.
He’s pistol-whipped back at base though.
He will not see me stopping here
to gather walnuts… wait, oh no!
All woods look kinda familiar at night. The fact that it’s not raining is a good sign. I still have hope that they are, in fact, in the real world.
(But still bonus points to Bruceski for paraphrasing Robert Frost)
For the record I agree, but once the brain starts working on one of those things it’s gotta come out of it’ll drive me mad.
…der
Egads, you’re right! They’re in Stanley Park, Vancouver!
Goddamn oracles…

My first thought is that she discovered that he didn’t even have the gun loaded, so she got rid of it.
Hospital gown. No pockets.
She changed out of the gown. She’s wearing scrubs. They often do have pockets in the trousers.

If Gavotte is supposed to be English, โgottenโ should be โgotโ.

I’m not entirely sure I wouldn’t say “gotten” just from watching American telly.
I’m impressed you even watch American telly. I prefer BBC.

Second only to its association with Ebenezer Scrooge.
Time for Ginny to click her heels and say “There’s no place like home.”
Next stop: the ruby slippers.
How about rocket boots? Close enough?
Aaaaand now I wonder how she’ll do in ErfWorld..
What happened to the stuff that was supposed to be covering/incasing Nick’s brain?
encasing*

More likely full telekinetic floating, glowing brain…
she didnt keep the gun???
No one making a Nigel Thornberry reference or post concerning the last panel? ๐
After all this the brain Virginia is now holding will get destroyed and only _then_ it will be discovered it was the wrong one.
This one belongs to Abby Someone, but she’ll have to install it in a behemoth to find that out…
Just imagine the wonderful chaos that would ensue from having Ms. Normal’s brain in something like Annex One. o_O
Instead of Hitty, Moustashio, or Unity?
So we’re not going back for the helicopter? … okay, then?
