Even if they could get volunteers to give up their human existence forever, they’d still have to fit the profile.
They don’t need to disappear volunteers. Also, when you kidnap people and steal their brains sometimes they don’t want to cooperate with you for some reason. That aspect of the personality problem was a bit… predictable, if they weren’t so dedicated to being evil
