Playlist #12
Shaenon: And another playlist! I’m going to miss making these so much.
Channing: Won’t lie, got a little misty listening to Comes a Time in this context.

OMG I haven’t thought about “Space Dog” in SO LONG
“Explode” was on the Narbonic playlist… takes me back.
I don’t usually keep up in the discussion posts, so I’m a little out of the loop. I’ve been having suspicions that this series is coming to an end – is that true?
It’s been drawing to a close for a while! https://skin-horse.com/comic/2021-01-24/ but I think we all suspect at least one more twist before the end.
That’s what I get for not regularly reading the Sunday pages! Thank you.
@wearsshoes – Clearly there must be – Sweetheart isn’t wearing a hat yet!
A playlist again makes me fret, er, for so many songs I don’t get, er…but this time I see, I do know of three, so compared to before, I did better.
Can’t wait to see what’s next
I don’t mean to confuse people with my song choices. It’s just that I know nothing about music and make selections by getting the CDs with the most interesting album art from the bargain bin at Amoeba.
That’s as good as system as any.
Well, I don’t think some people know some of the songs I parody any more than I know most of those. (Ran across a YouTube video yesterday, Eighty Songs You Didn’t Know Were Cover Versions—well, I knew about half the songs there, but I’m sure a lot of people here would.)
Don’t worry, you’re in good (or at least relatable) company! I personally listen to rap battles about Keynsian and Austrian ecenomic theory regularly…
You’re still the comics author from which I get the most of musical reference since Jeph Jacques stopped referring indie bands. I don’t know what it says about my own musical taste and knowledge (that maybe… you’re selling yourself short about this one, bc nobody can own a Parliament and pretend to know nothing about music?)…
I had a similar purchase system when younger (say, before the internet was a real reserve of advices and choices you can listen before buying) and made some weird discover this way -like for example this 80’s/90’s german rap/death metal/dub/funk band pretending to be aliens…
I gotta know the name of this german rap metal band
Freaky Fuckin Weirdoz, album Hula
I’ll be honest here – I’ve purchased lots of CDs for the album art, and some of them I’ve never even listened to (and others that I have listened to, I’ve been pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed).
It was nice to see the Parliament cut on there, made a good callback to the head of the Notaries and her history with Bootsie.
In an unusual twist, this playlist includes a song I have actually heard! Neat!
… I may not be the most with-it sort of person on the internet.
(“Mr. Spaceman”, in the unlikely event that you were curious.)
I prefer the cover by Jimmy Buffett and Gonzo.
Don’t stop making them ♥
