’tis a thing of beauty.
Sigh, still no proof that Director English ever existed.
To be fair, K.T. is addressing him in her image. There’s no reference to the swamp he was helping with at all.
Which leads naturally to a “Fan List of Additional Characters” to make more work for Shaenon! 😉
In no particular order:
Director English – The Necropolis
Mother Cypress – Other Clients and Contacts
Okay, okay, I’ve added Mr. England and the Cypress.
Many thanks!
“ARRGH! Rogue hat!” is the *best* thumbnail.
Yeah, but the swamp under the Necropolis really didn’t have an identity. It was just a ravenous… thing. It had no intellect or reasoning, so it really couldn’t be considered “sapient”.
Oh, Bravo! (Echo) A most Valiant effort and invaluable resource…
Very nice coding job too. I applaud the pop-out panel design.
And said legion of fans are genuinely grateful for all the hard work you, Jeff and Pancha put into creating the Skin Horse saga!
I’d ask for a hyperlinked Shadow Gov Org Chart but I’d hate to see you and Jeff extirpated, Shaenon. 😉
I do kinda miss the original “G.I. Joe-style file cards”, though. Would it be possible to keep them around, too?
Agreed! Maybe it could be a “new readers’ guide”?
There’s always archive.org, although it’s not something new readers will know about.
Thank you, s854!
I had the idea the original files were part of the story, that they were compiled and written by Ira, who was spying on and assessing them while in the guise of memory-impaired security guard.
I suspected that they were written by Mr Green, iirc based on the writer’s remarks about Dr Lee. And I just had to squelch the impulse to check the text, because it’s not there anymore.
Ah, it was the bit about having arranged Nick’s transfer to Skin Horse. My bad.
I loved the blood type jokes, and brought them up whenever the concept of blood type personality stereotypes came up.
It’s obviously well past time for Konstantin to reappear, isn’t it? I say this well aware that SH is now already planned in increasingly fine detail until the end of the strip.
My prediction is that Konstantin will return at the most critical moment and save everyone, using only soup cans and a bear whistle.
Delightful!
I’ll note that one character appears three times (decidedly not by accident, though).
You would put that up on a morning when I don’t have time to do more than glance at it.
This brings up a question I could never figure out: who was the narrator of the old Skin Horse bios supposed to be? Or Would That Be Telling?
I always figured it was Mr Green, but ICBW.
I thought it had been confirmed at some point in the comments that they were written by Ira, although at the time that was brought up, it was not yet known that Ira was, in fact, Mr. Green.
It’s lovely. ❤️
Channing, for someone who wears a “Lawful Good” T-shirt, I detect a rather maniacal diabolic cackle underlying your “Now to introduce like fifty new characters next week…” comment! 😉
I just know myself.
Oh…my….God!
Wow! You even included Kickstarter cameo characters!
This is quite a good cast page – and I’m not just saying that because I’m on it.
Really? I’m just saying that because I’m on it.
Best Sunday update ever!
(Well, excepting maybe the ones with baby-type announcements.)
HOLY CRAP, that had to be a lot of work! Beautifully done; I love in particular the way you’ve separated the characters out, I just went through ’em all for the pure fun of it. Fantastic job, and I *like* that you used art from the active strips, not new stuff– you get tantalizing little bits of context that way.
Two words:
Guest Artists
I managed the time to peruse. A newer cast list I can use. A few thumbnail sketches of these poor “Skin Horse” wretches—an offer I cannot refuse.
Beautiful! Thank you for that update.
I don’t know why it never clicked before, but Saint Charlie is named after the guy in the Kingston Trio song about “Ridin’ on the MTA” isn’t it?
Yep. He will ride forever ‘neath the streets of Boston, he’s the man who never returned.
Yep. Boston has embraced that song to a delicious extent — their prepaid transit cards are “Charlie Cards”.
I’m on the Cast page! I can die now.
Please don’t…at least, not anytime soon.
As for me, the Green Knight is a character of medieval legend. Though definitely in the public domain, since he predates the existence of copyright law, he’s unlikely to make an appearance in Skin Horse.
Of course, anything is possible.
Heck yeah, updating the cast page must have been a heck of a thing to do – thank you for doing it!
Immortality! Now to shave that damned mustache off.
Eeeeee!! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!
OMG. Congratulations!!! That’s a major accomplishment. A random Ph.D. Physicist salutes you.
